Kudos to all the stores who have set up for Christmas (under 25 million) We don’t get the recognition that 25 and up get. NewYork forgets we exist when they give out those awards. We never get our deliveries in time to even qualify. We get bare minimum of decorations, have second hand mannequins, bases, and anything else we can beg and borrow. We come to work everyday and do our best. Our stores are small but mighty as we too strive to make our path to growth and deliver a healthy profit. We often buy our own duct tape and utility knives. I’m not saying anything against the bigger doors, they are beautiful, and they do work hard. They get help, decorations, fixturing, and things we can only dream of. They get recognition too. The smaller than 25 don’t. So Merry Christmas to the below 25 groups. Know that you aren’t alone.

Good on you and the rest of the small doors for getting it done. But don’t assume that small door greatness goes unacknowledged - it doesn’t. And as someone who now works in one of those large doors, after working in several small doors for years, I can tell you we all make a lot of assumptions about each other’s work that just aren’t true. (For example, our mannequins are generally in poor to very poor condition, and the customers completely rip the store apart on big days. We make it work.) I’m very proud of my small door heritage and consider it a huge part of my success - remember how important the small doors are to our company’s success.
It’s amazing what you guys accomplished with next to nothing. I’m a 19 yr veteran from Macy’s. But couldn’t do it when the cut the only staff person I had. On to better things. Don’t ever forget how amazing you are and what a difference you make everyday. Even when you don’t hear it.
