What a waste of an hour listening to a boring webcast about Oath. Absolutely nothing tangible in that division. Just a bunch of millennials with limited ideas and too much free coffee. Jettison guru and the kool-aid gang in California. Marni was right to be let go after that fiasco.

I was explaining it to someone and to explain it I realized with the yahoo mega app they are making American Online.
Hm. So they give away NFL games and thinks it’s great that they have high views. They want to ad/pay wall things and make their group of apps into basically its own mega app or basically their own OS. Recycle recycle ♻️
Thank you Yahoo for being my spam account.
....and an invite to"...join the viewing party in the auditorium..." give me a break. Lol. So happy I skipped and went for a walk instead
It only cost 10 billion. Who woulda thunk that locking a bunch of foreign workers and millenials in a warehouse in liberal California would not work out? I need to go to CEO school. Your next concern should be what happens to my 401 and pension when they sell off the landline or shut it down. Time to go. time to go.
Pretty excited about the new logo on the yahoo app. Thanks for the hour long rollout.
If you had any sense you wouldn't have wasted your time watching it.
The issue isn't millennials, it's that no one has any vision on what consumers want. We lost content and marketing, and it's not going to be profitable. We should double down on the network, and not focus on things that don't support the core business.
Yahoo used to be useful as another poster wrote, "about 5 years ago", but it is painful to use the site for anything other than an alternate email account for junk mail and spam. I am curious about where all of the Oath money went. Didn't we invest something like ten billion plus into that old dog?
The best content on Yahoo is the user comments... the articles and spam/sponsored ads are all horrible. The comments are actually somewhat balanced too (left/right, crazy left/crazy right) or at least usually common sense. Also, I did use Yahoo finance to track my stocks 5+ years ago.
Not sure if anybody noticed but the webcast used a new app to stream. It used to open up Windows Media Player on my laptop, it was flowplayer this time.
The broadcast only worked via the mobile connection. That was interesting in its own right.
a dialup connection with at least 14.4kbps and a clean landline was required for this webcast
Ironically none of the people in our office could get in to watch the stream. We all got an error. Apparently at least 400 other people did too based on the subsequent message. Doesn't make us look good as a media company when we can't even do a successful internal video cast. Tech in charge of the feed probably pressed the button :-).
If senior management would have bothered to have some focus groups with both union and lower management (you know, people who live normal lives everyday instead of living in ivory towers) they would have gained so much insight as to why these recent acquisitions would be a bad idea before moving forward. Better yet, bring in some of the children of the rank-and-file and they would have learned volumes about the current market. But what do we know?
Guru should get canned as well. Tap him on the shoulder please. During last years webcast--this id--t said he met Lowell during a tsunami (he meant typhoon) in I forget what country...went on about "all the rain"...tap tap please.
It keep stalling at my office. I’d hear five ten seconds and then a few minutes later a few more seconds. A few others had the same problem. Sounds like I missed a lovely show of the world of years ago that somehow is new to some executive approving this stuff.
They said Huff Post is "Neutral Journalism"
HuffPost is not neutral and it seems to be written by junior high school girls who hate grammar.
But wait...didn't everyone hear the part about the big Yahoo Finance announcement where it will offer charts and research for investors? You mean like all online brokerage accounts have done for years? Yeah, that one.
The writer of this post hit the nail on the head. Get rid of it. Stop w the content. See where direct tv got att.
They said Huff Post is "Neutral Journalism" for a "purple country". I wish I could push the button twice. I mean HuffPost is ok I read it sometimes - but it is not by any means neutral. Calling HuffPost neutral is like calling a banana an apple. Why are corporations becoming so political??? Dec 10th come on.
Build It? Burn it.
The nice thing about being technician is you know when to admit when you were wrong about a piece of equipment or a maintenance action.
If only upper management could do the same
