Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sears is close to getting a loan deal that will keep it’s doors open in holiday season.

I don’t know what to think about this anymore. It's obvious that this loan deal will give us some breathing space to get through the holiday season and give Sears at least some chance of survival in any form ( maybe it was better to say minimal). On the other hand, with the way that the company is burning cash and the way that it isn't’ showing any signs of progress even with all the store closings, this loan is just prolonging the agony and delaying the inevitable. Frankly, I don’t even see the possibility of having anything near a successful holiday season. Maybe it’s time to turn the life-support off.

This loan is effectively a death sentence for Sears Holdings post holiday period. Sears stores may survive under a Lampert coalition. Hard to know.

Jim Morrison and the Doors said it best:

This is the end

Beautiful friend

This is the end

My only friend

The end

Of our elaborate plans

The end

Of everything that stands

The end

No safety or surprise

The end

I'll never look into your eyes

Again

Can you picture what will be

So limitless and free

Desperately in need of some stranger's hand

In a desperate land

Lost in a Roman wilderness of pain

And all the children are insane

All the children are insane

Waiting for the summer rain, yeah

There's danger on the edge of town

Ride the king's highway, baby

Weird scenes inside the gold mine

Ride the highway west, baby

Ride the snake, ride the snake

To the lake

The ancient lake

Baby

The snake is long, seven miles

Ride the snake

He's old

And his skin is cold

The west is the best

The west is the best

Get here, and we'll do the rest

The blue bus is callin' us

The blue bus is callin' us

Driver, where you taking us

The deal is just giving Sears enough money to finish liquidating the stores. SHLD is in Chapter 7; it just hasn't been announced yet.

There is no coming back from this. Sears and kmart are done. The holiday sales are liquidation efforts. When you're on the inside all the internal propaganda has you wanting to think otherwise. It's simply an attempt at brainwashing.

Great American Capital is a liquidation bank , divide the assets and sell is what they do .

The lender is Great American Capital. Their recent retail clients are Hancock Fabrics, Radio Shack, Eleven James, HH Gregg, Sears Canada, Bon Ton, and Bebe. That should tell you what to think.

All it is doing is kicking the can down the road.....and is delaying the inevitable Chapter 7 shutdown just as Eddie's loans have done over the past few years.

Sears reputation is so tarnished now and so much of its customer base has been driven away, it makes almost no sense for Sears to be able to continue on at this point.
