Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

The "hub" communication

Why do we get so many details and facts to the true happenings of the TR organization changes on this website instead of the company approved communication site? Leaders keep talking about how the organization will be leaner and flatter but never explicitly say we are laying off masses of people and reducing staff in specific locations. It must be all political and we have to read between the lines and assume we comprehend and understand the true meaning of leaderships communication hub posts. I dont get why folks on this blog dont post the same on the hub if laid off as part of this reorg and location strategy so other TR employees that dont visit this site get the true understanding of the leaderships vague and politically correct hub messages. I understand why leadership is "so excited" about the future of TR. The have a role in the new structure unlike so many others who their fates are unknown. I struggle to even focus on work given I dont even know what my fate is yet. Back to my original question.... why dont we hear about this on the hub? We only hear about the open positions and people who get the roles but what about everybody else? its Dead silence.

This is no different than what Sears employees are going through. They have their own version of the "hub." If you write disparaging remarks on it, your lead is going to be bringing you into their office for a chat about company unity and cohesion. In short, anything you write on a corporate message board can be easily traced back to you and could cost you dearly. This site is anonymous and not controlled by TR.

Why? Because the leadership is only open when it's about something that isn't important. If it's posted on the hub it probably doesn't matter.

“Focus on work”

So far this week, I have received 1 one email relating to work. One. So I guess many aren’t just able to focus on work.

The leaders “appointed” each other to roles. Several of the new “leads” are not exactly known as being ethical. Seems very corrupt.

@W9v3lOE-exp

Agreed, disgusting how people can post that with the lack of direction and poor leadership

Here’s a few possible answers to your question: 1) Our so-called leaders think the less we know about company dealings, the more we are likely to continue doing our jobs uninterrupted. In actuality, the lack of transparency is causing lower morale and productivity. 2) The Hub is PC nonsense so doom and gloom news is frowned upon. Look at the comments section when the leads or N-1 (whatever they want to call it) were appointed under the Tax and Legal re-org. The “leaders” congratulated themselves for securing roles and posted how excited they are for this “new beginning” DESPITE all the ambiguity. What is going to happen to the sales and CSM structure? The short and long answer: the leaders don’t know. No transparency, just ambiguity. All in an attempt to hide true state of the company.

I was on the Hub to see if anyone was brave enough to ask about the layoffs. Nope. But I did see a dozen people comment on how excited they were to see the reorg unveiled. Those people are the worst of the worst.

I am more surprised by the apparent indiscriminate vastness of it. So many people in nearly every position. What this “reset” means for the future. No communication of the vision. What does it look like for all of our different products and solutions when so many people who create, build, and maintain them are no longer here. People who have been here for over 30 years. All that institutional knowledge gone. We pride ourselves as the best in what we do with more data and knowledge in the fields we are in but after the dust setttles will we still be able to make that claim?

What is the direction this ship is headed in?

Speaking of the press. I see that Reuter’s hasn’t posted anything about it.

Screw the mood elevator. I was over that long time ago. Wheres the freedom of the "press" and why is the hub filled with politically correct nonsense. I heard about Rochester from outside our organization. Shouldn't TR communicate from inside out? No one knows c-ap unless heard thru the grapevine.

I could get on this site at work. Weird how some people can’t but then again their systems aren’t the most reliable

They could be deleting it, or locked down accounts of anyone who was let go. Are you brave enough to tag everyone or whatever you do on the hub and ask what the hell is up to find out?

I just want some communication explaining what the hell is going on, and what to continue to expect or not expect. I've never felt so betrayed by this company and I haven't even been laid off (yet?).

If your laid off, what's to loose? I guess severance but hell. They send emails starting their goodbye, why not create a blog that all your followers see. Is it part of servernce or something to keep your mouth shut? I mean 100s of folks are getting cut and not a word about it on the hub. It feels like big brother government conspiracy c-ap to censor what comms are created/ sent out.

What do you mean? They posted about how yesterday was "international kindness day" on the hub and other not at all completely tone deaf/oniony nonsense. Why would you care about silly things like the fate of your job? Or that this is being done to get some cash to buy some big company? Look why don't you go in the elevator and study the mood elevator chart and maybe you won't feel so hopeless anymore.

BTW, this site is blocked at TR.

I thought about that too. But some of it comes down to a lot of people don’t use the hub as much as they should/could. Where exactly would it get posted to generate enough attention? Lastly who is brave enough to put their name to something like that give. The climate? I have been thinking of emailing Jim Smith and other executives to see what’s up. They say they have an open door policy but we all know it’s not completely open.
