Not sure if already posted but looks like Macys sold some furniture store in the Chicagoland area. https://www.chicagobusiness.com/commercial-real-estate/macys-sells-will-close-2-suburban-furniture-stores

How does the neighborhood store run? Who’s in charge? I heard there would be no VPSM ? Not sure if that is accurate.

Several tests running for workforce integration, stores running Neighborhood program (see Wall Street Journal Article) strategy all center around centralized case registers and 30% to 40% reductions in staffing. We have a pilot store and it is a complete cluster. We laid off 40% of the staff in August and that hired the same number of people we laid off back as seasonal temps two weeks later, Company doesn't know what it is doing, just knows that it wants to cut staffing in 20% of stores next year.

This holiday was a disaster with fulfillment at store level, no strategy, forecast was a joke, seasonal pay too low, can't fill jobs, not enough hands to take care of the customer and fill orders and unrealistic expectations for store teams. Company needs more people who work in the stores working in the home office, as leaders there clearly don't have a clue. If you are in a neighborhood store next year, do yourself a favor and start looking for a job now.

It’s so funny how management addresses the rumors re building changes but completely passes over lay-off rumors, which are the ones everyone is freaked out about. The truth is members of management have leaked the info and have confirmed that 40-50% of staff in these stores receiving the (redesign) are going to be laid off.

The remaining management is running around harassing employees that they want to work for inventory night already and pretty much demanding it (they use the same ones every year because they consider us “reliable”). But the week after, we may be told we’re gone.

I’m not waiting and i won’t be used and worked like a dog anymore while fellow associates just stand there and watch only to be suddenly told I’m gone. I’m aggressively looking to get out and will not give notice at this point if i need to start a new job immediately.

I’m now showing Macy’s the same level of respect it shows it’s “hardest working employees”!

Announcements will happen on Monday January 7th. There will be some store closings but very minimal.

Visual managers. Everything is cookie cutter and you are told to follow the directives.

Oh, I believe it. Just curious as to what positions are going to be consolidated.... last year , OPS and AP .... is that position going to continue going forward? What else can they eliminate?

It won’t be good. They’re planning on eliminating allot of staff in smaller stores and moving forward with the central cash register stations they talked about in the news a few weeks ago. That’s why the visits taking place now are so intense. They are trying to have this all set in place before feb which is when layoffs need to be completed . They’re going to expect same amount of work from 30% less staff. (Don’t believe it, watch and listen).
