Been at CVS for 12 years, my store has the best customer service in my district and because we just moved to another district, we are # one there also. My customers love us. Our sales are booming. my store is clean and stocked. However , that doesn't matter anymore. Like other stores, hours have been cut, merchandise not being shipped, ( so, the store looks empty) so, good luck CVS. I'm taking my great customer service, my dependability, my honesty, and knowledge somewhere else. To those others coming in, don't believe what they say. They don't care about you or their customers or they wouldn't be cutting hours. Guess we paying for their mistakes

We are gaining hours and are designated as a new initial health hub . Project starts next week and to be complete by March ! Selecting the best of the best in the district as team members. Saw blue prints today and it is amazing. Retail space cut in half and no longer isles but sections that look like upscale low boy units! Sharp with lots of lighting and automatic price change RF labels, no more old labels or ad signs, RF flashes sale prices to the right of reg price! Gonna save time !

EL PROGRAM IS A JOKE!! all you have to do is SAY YES!! to everything they say and tell them great you like it FROM BEHIND!! thats how you get promoted here. If you care about your community or your employees and have any kind of conscious then you are "NOT QUALIFIED" TO be upper management here. Got heart my eye. They have NO SOUL!!!

On the whole DL only being RPH, that's simply not true. My old DM was brought back along with another former DM to replace two DLs who were former RPH. As a matter of fact, my current DL is being promoted after a year of being a DL, former RPH, but couldn't learn the front if his life depended on it. My new DL is a SM..... from what I'm hearing.

CVS says: “We want leaders who can think at a high level. Self reflective leaders who lead by example. Here take these modules and become enlightened.”

CVS really wants: Pragmatic Followers in the church of CVS that lack a grasp on the reality of real word CVS store struggles.

CVS gets: two faced do gooders with robotic smiles that look like they transcended their egos, but really they have mommy issues, s-x addictions, and an eagerness towards an artificial ideal of self worth.

Its unfortunate, as many outstanding pharmacists and managers have found out, that this EL program is a carnival game to convincingly dangle the carrot in front of hard working folks who want to contribute their skills and hopefully advance their career. Once in a while one slips through the cracks without getting frustrated with being the DLs admin or special project coordinator or get burned out . A very few succeed, but the vast majority get tossed back into the sc-ap pile with other production workers .

Toys r Us mgrs will find out rather quickly they are just another farm animal with a number. The only relevant experience you bring is your ability to work 80 hours a week . If you want to work 18 hour days and have a decent looking store, can clean the toilets to a mirror finish

they may promote you to a higher volume store with a couple more hours of budget. NO ONE in CVS cares what you know or values your experience. Your sense of pride will be stripped in short time when you realize you have been taken by the PT Barnum of CEOs . Another s---er born.

Welcome to CVS....

Lets face the facts.

SM or RX... this is a well paying job if you are unemployed.

If you are a store manager without education, you can and should be looking into another company that values employees. You may start lower pay, but if you have the desire and effort you will succeed in another company in short time.

If you are a pharmacist you may want to make and investment and broaden your education into other health care fields. With CVS you will ALWAYS be an assembly line worker and when they move the pharmacy to the front of the store and remove the front end registers, you will also become the front end head cashier.

Its coming...

These people were hired thru a recruiting firm, and the company paid big bucks for each of them to that firm. They must receive the jobs as per the agreement in the time frame agreed upon. They are not a regular SM for this company and we do receive tax breaks based on salary! Do if we hire them at 100,000 as Sm most of this is offset by the giant tax break we receive plus we end up with d better quality employee that know how to do big business, 719 were recruited from this firm many landed here and will be leaders this is true

I'm a current DL and former DM and RX Sup.

Current direction of cvs as of the end of last year is to have RPH's as District Leaders only. Not to offend any of the Retail Store Managers. This company is less than 18% retail sales from the FS. Pharmacy driven and DL's mostly deal with pharmacy related issues and have the knowledge to address them.

To the Toys r us managers that were lied to about the DL position let me break it down to you. Why would cvs want to hire a Toy store manager to be in charge of a multi million dollar pharmacy business? How would you handle a DEA or Board audit or issue if you have absolutely no knowledge or education on d--gs, the regulation, and compliance of them?

I'm sorry that you were lied to. It is used by some Field leaders to fill the Store Manager positions that are very difficult for us to fill.

My advise is to steer clear of the EL program as we offer it to anyone FS or RX that will agree to it. We have to have the program with participants inorder to keep our bosses happy. They know that only managers with a pharmacy license will be promoted.

These Toy s R us people are real and are being put in charge! Already happening and my experience with them was not good. They are a--holes dealing with people including the Rx! They seem to want to run off staff. Guess that is why their company went under. So watch out they r for real and in leadership roles, most DL hired these sh--s and the company gets a tax break for 5 years for keeping them off welfare!

Lmfao...excitement and new ideas?? CVS doesn't want to take ideas from managers who drove their former company out of business. You are all slugs. Worthless nobodys who think they will be Field managers after they failed at being store managers. Lol this is funny. Cvs knows you are a joke but they need to fill sm positions with mindless people so you got offered a job. Cvs store managers ring up customers and put away and stock product for 95 % of their shift.

DL's are only going to be RPH's going forward, if you can't figure that one out you are as clueless as you were in your GED programs...lol s---ers

Sounds like a bunch of scared SM out there who do not want any competition! You were not promoted to DL because you failed to execute at a high level, look at your sh--ty stores as proof and no bench strength , you manage 2 people and half million in sales. You open and close doors and your stores feel like they are closing , no appeal to shoppers just pig styes ! We bring excitement and new ideas and will save FS

I’m a pharmacist and was in the EL program 2017. I myself and many other pharmacist have been “cat fished” into the program. Meaning we went through the classes and then were strung along some longer than others, without ever being promoted. I’d say they wait for people to just give up and quit the program, by that time they have already gotten plenty of free work out of you and they have already moved on to recruiting the next batch of pharmacist that think they are special because they were asked to be in the EL program.

It makes for a lot of resentful pharmacist.

My biggest concern with the program is all the work one has to do outside of your regular working hours (without pay) without the slightest idea of when and if you will be promoted.

So my question to the toys r us managers would be: did you get it in writing? Meaning was the promise they made to become a DL in 6 months, was that given to you in writing?

Here is the scoop on a high potential DL hire from the outside Toys R US dreamer...

They are hired in at a DL pay 90k plus. From day 1 they enter a 12 week EL program. They learn what they can from the program and then they are given a district. They don't wait for almost a year to enter an EL program. They are hired knowing they WILL be a DL in 12 weeks. I have seen this happen twice. 1 was a DM from a successful bb retailer. The other was a wags DM.

You my friend were hired as a high potential STORE MANAGER. Huge difference here. Hires from the outside that are not a DL in 12 weeks have to be a smit, SM and them run successful stores for many years to prove themselves. They also have to compete against many successful SMs and RX managers that know the business like their back hand. And they usually have connections in the company through the YEARS they have spent in the EL program.

To become a DL in CVS takes many things:

1.must have at least a 4yr Bachelors degree

  1. Most now are RPH, if you are not you MUST have multi unit retail management experience, or you must be a very high performing SM for many years and be very well connected with region or division manager but this is extremely rare and might even not happen anymore. They want Rx managers.

The EL program: this is offered to almost all SM's. Some have the talent to do it but most don't. They have to fill seats for the program or the RD and Division manager will hammer down on the DL for not filling the seats. It is not an honor to be offered to enter the EL program unless you enter it on the 1st day you start at cvs.

Lastly any manager hired in to cvs that has SM experience are told they can be a DL in a short period of time. This is recruiting 101. They want to attract people to become SM's. There is a very high turnover for managers at cvs and they use all kinds of tactics to get u to sign on as they have multiple SM holes to fill. This is probably one of the worst places to be a sm and people know it.

I went through the EL program and I was a high performer, it took me 2 years to be promoted and even then I had to relocate for the position on my own dime. It's all about the pipeline being full and nothing about individual development bc honestly there's 60 replacements willing to take the oppurtunity. You are not any more special than anyone else whether your from Toys r us, Walgreens or Wal-Mart. Without years of results you wont be promoted. Unless you are extremely lucky and they literally can't find someone willing to take the position. Congrats on going to classes but your only at the beginning of a very long political path. 6 months is not even close and I'd bet my bonus on it.

Sorry toys r us guy or gal but you will not be a DL i six months. While this company has no problem playing favorites with externals, your coming from big box toys r us and your DL could only put you in that low volume of a store to start? Dls lie to steal talent from big box all the time

Post ID: @1cmt+WFHLV2s

Cvs DLs never lie to get something done for them...lol

This is like the take over a and turn around a failing pharmacy and you will be a pharmacy supervisor 6 months later...

Or the staff rphs who are told to be acting Pharmacy Managers until someone else comes...3 years later

by

Post ID: @1wlt+WFHLV2s

Lol toys r us was a joke. That's why you are out of business. You will never be a DL. You will be stuck in a low volume store ringing register until 12pm when your cashier comes in. Then you will have to stay late to get all the work done as you will never see more than 1 employee working with you even on delivery day. You will be forced to work 60-70hrs a week to get the work done. Then when you have a call out and no staff to go in you will be working your day off without compensation.

Just got an email from the Region director begging any and everyone to join the EL program here in the New England states. Check your email. You're not special. It's just a con to keep the stores stocked with SMs that will bust their butts to become a DL....which is a pipe dream.

It's funny how these toys r us managers think that they know cvs and have been here less than a year. You are in for a ride. You are the pany waste of the company and will never be anything more than a sm at cvs.

FYI We were all identified as top talent And your company recruiter reached out to us in conjunction with our lay off! We were informed that we would be fast tracked into District Managers , all of us! Most of us did more in sales in half a day than you guys do all week. I have not seen any such talent level at this company

To the Former toys r us employee....You said “just because my company closed down doesn’t mean I don’t know what I’m doing.”

You make our point. Running a good store has less and less to do with the talent of an individual leader....our Stores look like sh-- cause we have no payroll hours. Plenty of good managers here.... only difference is we remain in a company that hasn’t closed down.

Your ignorance proves how you are either lying about being EL or that your district is trying to play you and create an atmosphere of hope and reward because moral is very bad in your region.

This is a Pharmacy driven company and they only want RPH as a DL. UNLESS you have multiple years as a District Manager of a big box retailer. Not some former Toys r us store manager. You will nerver be anything more than a sm at cvs. Plain and simple. DL's will tell you whatever they want to get what they need. They lie all the time. They are corporate puppets. Everyone gets invited to take part in the EL program unless you do not get a ME review or they plan on firing you in the near future....

Just because I come from a company that closed , this does not mean I am not good at what I do! Obviously you people do not have talent so the leaders have to find it somewhere. So far The retail side of the stores is in horrible condition, no idea how to merchandise for peak sales ! 9/10 stores look like they are going out of business

You definitely been had. Only people who can be a DL are RPH. They need to have spots filled for the EL program. Usually 3-4 per district. They will take anyone. Doesn't matter is msh is 5.0 or 1.0. It's basically going to turn into the DL's personal assistant as well as running your own store at 45hrs plus the EL program. No raise and no hope to become a DL unless you are a RPH. I feel bad for all these people who think they will become a DL. Unless you have 5+ years as a District Manager at a big box retail chain or a RPH forget it
