Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

It starts by admitting there is a problem

Microsoft was heading down a dark path and was failing repeatedly but turned themselves around and was most certainly, not a well loved company. Gates knew when to step aside and focus on other things and salvage his reputation - turn it around even. Microsoft turned itself around as well and turned itself into the number 2 cloud vendor while still maintaining its lead in operating systems while conceding some ground in that area.

How does Oracle manage to do that is the question. It starts at the top. They seem to say the right things. Sort of. Its a culture that must pervade the entire company from top to bottom. Maybe it starts with admitting there is a problem and rallying everyone to fix it rather than running around naked and proclaiming that your clothes are the finest in the land.

Couldn't agree more with this on-point post by @WEShvJC-1sww .

Nothing meaningful will happen as long as MH and S.C. are the co- CEOs.

SC will make sure that there is no money to invest b/c all she cares about is hoarding money for share buybacks.

MH is just a piece of sh-- who will sabotage anything a rational head of Dev would want to do.

And then there is LE who knows everything best and must have the final say on most issues.

Just a dysfunctional 3 stooges show. What oracle needs is for the heee of them to be replaced with a single CEO and the a--kissers on the BoD tp be replayed by independent directors with experience and brains.

That may happen once LE is six feet under, so don’t hold your breath hoping for meaningful changes at oracle any time soon. Not in the cards!

Obviously, LE is much better than MH and SC. That said, someone needs to take over and that person should be able to see where things are going in five years (and put money behind it, billions if needed) so we could start to build things now.

We got rid of TK, so there is at least a chance of someone else will come along. Perhaps ES is that person - I don't know enough him - but I think both MC and CP could have done the job. TK got rid of them both.

We need visionaries, not dictators doing micromanagement.

yes, MS had some trouble after BG, as any company would but that was also when some of the groundwork was laid for MS turning itself around. LE leaving would likely cause turmoil at O as people fight for dominance to try to set a direction. Who would O even have to set a direction, a bean counter and a slick sales guy? Not exactly tech visionaries.

Yes, BG did an excellent job. MS could have owned the smart phone market. They were 5 years ahead, but when SB took over they stopped investing and Apple saw the opportunity.

What are you even talking about? Gates left the most valuable company in the world which flailed in the hands of gorilla man for years.
