Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Here we are a week before Christmas...

Has it been a do ( stay in business) or die (liquidation) season?

If I didn't work for Sears, it really would not cross my mind to even go to Sears for any shopping since there are no TV ads in Michigan

But since I do work at sears, their selections of items to buy still don't get my business.. Very uninspiring selection

The company should be running spectacular sales outdoing the competitors instead of the same boring ads expecting a different outcome!

They should have brought back the employee discount for 2 weeks in December but I guess that would have cut into the bonuses for the top crooks that could care less about the company since they will get their bonuses either way

Seriously, do you really think the clowns running the company can drive a profit or even know how too?

@WFypQ04-wno I remember something about the parent company being foreign owned and facing huge fraud allegations. So there may be a Chapter 22 like you say. lol

Mattress Firm is run about as well as Sears. Look for Chapter 22 (that's a joke for the humor impaired) in another 9 months.

Mattress Firm went through a Chapter Eleven and closed about 700 of their 50,000 stores. They are still in business. They closed the one across the street from the one across the street by me. lol

JCPenney was toe-to-toe with Sears, as well as Montgomery Ward. They all even had restaurants within their stores! JCP started to divest from most of the hardlines beginning in the early 1980s, sold off their auto shop to Firestone (Lifetime Battery Warranty, lol) and just went all into the softlines. JCP going back to selling appliances would have worked a bit better if they had just a bit more space. But alas, they have a Sephora store-within-a-store that takes up quite a bit of floor space (People are going to Ulta). I have a feeling that theyʻre going to go soon.

All these companies were their own worst enemy. Sears had that advantage of having all those branches that performed better than the core, but that ship has sailed a long, long time ago when the Sears brand wasnʻt associated with Eddieʻs Failure. Hindsight is 20/20.

For Sears to run spectacular ads, they'd need to have spectacular product. And that requires money. Is there money? I'd say no
