Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

This is not only affecting GM employees

This whole situation is affecting entire communities. Now an expansion of Mercy Health in Trumbull County in Ohio is put on hold as a direct result of it.

General Motors leadership should be ashamed of themselves!

Yes, it has a ripple affect. I went to comcast the other day to return equipment. Lay off means you don't get paid, downgrade my service.

The guy at the counter said you were the forth person today that claimed they were laid off by GM, and had to downsize.

Congratulations Marry. This will be your legacy. Rightfully so. Question: Do you ever take a cut, or does that many millions keep you warm an bundled. I seem to recall something about selling your soul...

There is no logic in it. No one wants sedans, people want trucks and SUVS. Meaning, this entirely new move by GM to go electric sedan, will still result in no one wanting sedans, and everyone STILL wanting trucks and SUVS. Does this make sense? The mental patients have taken over the asylum. AV is still a pipe dream, as they can't even get dry conditions right.

This is Mary's legacy. She will be known as the one to cut in a time of record profits, and a remarkable number of employees. She will wear this badge for the rest of her life. People at least had compassion for those that came before, that responded out of their conditions. Mary, neither has a sound plan, or shows it as an act of benevolence.

She will be judged, and time will prove it right.

It's not GM leadership's fault consumers decided they're done with sedans, nor is it their fault oil prices didn't stay high, cratering the demand for economy vehicles. What they can do is lower the cost of labor that goes into vehicles, and reduce the number of brands and imprints. Consumers actually like simplicity. Steve Jobs taught us that. More robots, less humans, less lines, less trims. Elon Musk has shown us it's entirely feasible. Maybe the day where we can have an auto factory with just 1000 workers isn't that far off, and one day, it'll just be raw materials go in one end, a car comes out the other.
