Verizon is as reliable as herpes will return next month. It flares, burns, and makes everyone unhappy. Merry Christmas and eat my gooch. Bam.
Note: I love that the CEO is a mix between Gavin Belson and the Swedish Chef. Bortbortbortbort
I survived the Obama administration
I will survive Trump.
Merry Christmas all you keyboard warriors.
like most of trumps pumped up market this too will fall flat once investors start cashing out
More it's counter-cyclical, or seen as that, so it performs that way.
What goes up must come down, last time vz hit 60 was about 15years ago..it will go down like the rest of the market,,we have entered the big bad bear so nothing is safe except cash, bonds
VZ's stock price is based upon that dividend and the fact that they increase it like clockwork. The problem is that they're already had to sell assets and take on debt to cover it in bad years. In good years they've been taking more debt to buy useless assets. Yes in the meanwhile debt is getting retired, but non-wireless assets are withering and interest rates are going up.
All the current cost cutting is to cover the hole in the balance books made by two bad acquisitions. This is all money and effort that should be going back into the business, or at minimum retiring debt. Instead the moves are paralyzing operations, and will do so for years to come.
A bigger risk than VZ's debt load is AT&T's. They're barely holding on, and when they pop in the next downturn the whole sector is going to look shaky. T-Mobile is a freight train and AT&T is touting 5G, but their network is not in third place while at a higher price. They're losing subs and D* is an anchor around their necks.
Verizon is a company that was built by hard work, but now it is run by b---s---. Now it will only last as long as the hard work can carry it, regardless of the recession.
Funny you should ask, found this today and the authors opinion is No.

get real
Verizon is a complete failure. Every company they buy either dies or is worth billions less than when Verizon purchased it. Hep-c is probably a better investment than Verizon Stock right now.

Well, I guess if it’s here on the Internet, it must be true.
BONJOUR!
Verizon's revenue stream is pretty recession resistant as far as mobile goes. Even home television is somewhat recession resistant historically. However, the massive debt is a bomb that seems to be boom and bust proof, and that's a far bigger worry over time. That alone is an anchor that will likely drag it into ruin.
