unlimited pto is a farse. employees already feel penalized if they take vacation time. a few days here or there is fine. out of pocket for 2-3 weeks, its a problem because of how nike operates. too lean for the volume of work and down time doesnt exist for a growth company. high probability sh-- goes wrong when youre in the office. increases exponentially if youre out especially if your manager is a spoon-fed id--t. add the usual nike hunger games and your screwed if you do and screwed if you dont. some employees accumulate pto to get it paid out when they get the ax.
i once managed an employee whose previous manager let them accumulate 500 pto hours on top of their sabbaticals. their manager didnt know or didnt care. unfair to the employee (whos also at fault) and sh-- business practice. wasted so much time and effort to create a lose-lose plan to bring it down. they moved onto a new manager and took every friday off and an entire month off in the same year as a 6 week sabbatical.
crazy that this sh-- happens at a top company.
