Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Want to feel better about yourself? Don't buy GM products.

This is likely a lesson most will have not learned yet. Perhaps this mass layoff, is their first time....

To the youth of this company, let those that came before tell you a story. This company today, is acting like the company of yesterday, in which you will find yourself again in the future, at it's mercy of another repeat we find ourselves today. Layoffs, replacements, downsizing, it's not random, it's a pattern with this company. This may be your first experience, but you will notice your second experience, and it will again become obvious on your third experience - as the company claims to advance towards new opportunities.

They say, never bite the hand that feeds you. I've heard from countless others, support those that you work for. My question is, what if those that feed you, those that support you, toss you out of the house, naked, cold, hungry, randomly, with nothing left? Who's to blame, and how far and under what conditions should your loyalty remain? What IS your breaking point?

Having vision works both ways. The vision to see where you are going, as well as the vision to avoid the immovable object standing within your path. GM management, only has 50% of this vision, and they do that quite subpar, it's actually an abomination what their level of management actually knows.

Their piece of paper does NOT define intellect, which is proven time and time again. They always look ahead, and will never look at the roadblocks. This is the difference between an intellectual, and someone that wings the situation. They hire temperaments that are NOT intellectuals, and this is part of their downfall.

I am a two year veteran of GM, and have felt the pain of almost a half dozen layoffs. Of those layoffs, I've never once quite a company. It was always corporate downsizing, layoffs, or some other nonsense. It has always been an affliction. You might perhaps think, maybe you weren't pulling your weight. That wasn't true, as I was as talented as some, and more talented as most. I figured out, if I didn't a**kiss a long time ago, I wasn't part of the crew. I bow down to no man. I sell my soul to no one.

So. You should know that idiocracy lives. Those less intelligent than yourself, likely run your affairs. God help you if you are an intellectual, and your superiors are not. Confidence is knowledge, and by understanding of the game in which you exist, helps you to understand your opponent.

Mary Barra, is simply CEO 2.0 of those that came before her. I knew this day would come back in 2015, and it has. She dismissed many of my friends, and worse. It's the single reason, I will NEVER support GM, and I have become an advocate for life. I will exchange mercenary talent for pay, but never anything more. I will purchase her opponents vehicles, and never hers.

Know your enemy, know yourself. If you fail to not understand this, your next layoff, is entirely on your shoulders. Experience, will prove this correct. As I tell my children, you can learn through doing, or your can learn through the experience of your elders. One is significantly more painful than the other.

@mdf what truth is that? that you're not worth as much to the company as a talented 18 year old kid who can sell cars, because he brings in more revenue than he costs?

Or maybe meant two decade veteran? You might have got that by reading the story.

Come on guys. Use your head. Figure things out maybe? Why bashing on someone offering a life lesson you will never possess?

I kinda lost it at "two year veteran". This guy is a hoot. Feel sorry for their kids though, both in genetics and general embarrassment.

Indeed. Still can't discount all the points made. Life's lesson right there.

Upvoted for entertainment value of triggered manchild. Millennials are pushing 40 by the way. I think my grandma calls herself New Age.

Triggered is a new age millennial thing. Same with snowflake and the other nonsense.

The more exposure you give this thread in reply, the more exposure you give this tread. Lets keep it up. People need to know. Didn't think that far did you?

There is absolutely zero you can do to shake me, I'm sorry friend. Truth trumps nonsense.

They recently gave people a shiny new upvote and downvote button for this site, and sudden people think it matters.

Folks, downvote all you want - PLEASE. It doesn't work, With that said, it won't suppress the truth even at -1000 votes. At least until they get the down vote system to actually work here on the site.

Oops. I know, truth hurts. It does. If I save only one, it was worth it. You can't save the ignorant. They will bury themselves with enough time.

Just a valid contributor. Nothing more, nothing less.

If you want to learn the ways of GM, stay tuned, or don't.

You've probably read a few dozen of my other posts, which you didn't think to mind a single moment.

Truth hurts.

Maybe you're receiving diwnvotes because you're a whiny little b--ch?

And yet again, this could receive -150 down votes, yet it will do NOTHING. It will still show.

Ignorance is alive on all levels.

You assume I'm making a tantrum, when in fact I invite, encourage, and welcome a complete failure of this company. Simply making others after my time aware of what they've invested in, is simply a courtesy. Truth very much hurts, I know. But it doesn't make it truthful any less.

It's just a company past it's Glory days looking to make money and cut costs. People aren't buying sedans on one hand, and Tesla is looking to automate workers out of existence at the other, never mind the Koreans, and Obama had to bail our hides out just to keep the lights on not 10 years ago. There's bigger things in the world to throw a tantrum about than Mary Barra and her flailing to keep the ship afloat.

Wonder if we have any company damage control going on, or if these are legitimate people that really have no clue trying to voice their opinion.

Trying to skew the ratings considering the ratings DON'T quite seem to matter on this site, is not only ironic, it's also funny. The +1 or -1 may read one way or other, but they don't register as anything significant. Oops.

Oh, that's sincerely not it at all. It's completely not that.

But, as an advocate against, for life, would I be doing my job simply taking a break? I simply wish to bring truth, nothing more, nothing less. The more opponents engage, I will engage back. It brings light to a very dark place.

You really need to take a couple of days to unwind and get it out of your system. Have a vacation. Get laid. There will be life after GM.
