I found interesting how this article covers the influence of public pressure and the political climate on the decision of the banks to provide Sears with loans. They are obviously not blind and see that Sears is hanging from the edge of a cliff with little chance of survival, but on the other hand, denying Sears the only opportunity to survive and practically being blamed for the job-loss of tens of thousands of workers is also not a good position to be in.
Found this to be a sad reminder that the employees themselves could have done more not to wind up in this situation in the first place. We all knew this was years in the making, and if we all had the guts to speak together and more loudly, I sure there could have been a different outcome.
