Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Is this really what happened at some stores?

Our store closed at 6pm. TARGET AND WALMART nearby are open until midnight. Corporate even shut our lights off at 5:45 pm. Customers were shocked at the lights being shut off. On my way out of the building, the parking lot lights shut off while prospective customers kept trying the doors, thinking they were stuck and not locked. Corporate never sent down signage for our doors with holiday hours and no one here knows how to print using the sign system.

How out of touch can management be if this is true??? Are they trying to bury us???

Our local Kmart closed at 10pm Xmas eve. KM Stores in major markets did as well. Stores in smaller or rural markets closed earlier. Same as in years past.

I walked into my local Sears store at 1pm on Christmas Eve this week.....The mall parking lot was jammed full of cars....The Sears lot however was only 20-25% full of cars.

I went in to buy an article of clothing, walked right up to a cashier without any line ahead of me and made my purchase.....There were only a few other customers in the store.

Had this been 20 or 30 years ago, the place would have been filled with customers.

methinks Sears/Kmart didn't have the staffing, in general, so did not expand to

typical holiday hours during those final 4 or so days.

Target open to 10. If Sears and Kmart were serious, they would have been too.

@efc even if that were true, everyone at every level is "working" from home and looking for a job

Our now closed Sears Grand had climate control processed out of Atlanta, we had full control of lights on the property.

Ya right... Someone at HE has a master switch that controls the lights and shut them off while customers/employees were trying to exit or enter the store.... if you were open until midnight, I’m willing to bet you would be b--ching about staying open when no customers were in the store.
