Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Fro those worried about layoffs

Excellent rundown from another thread:

Right now organizations are still trying to put together their structure. While is possible that some names could get dropped from the new structures it's highly unlikely that will happen. Management is scrambling for how to continue to function, not pick who they want to get rid of. Even slugs and dead weight will be cherished.

Once the organizations are figured out they'll be hiring in junior level positions to work beside the VSPers so we can train them up. This is all a very large healing process and you don't want to cut into the patient until they've fully healed from the last major surgery.

Sure, some parts of the company like Oath is gonna get savaged RSN, but I would be shocked to see any normal RIFs in the traditional parts of the business anytime within the immediate planning horizon. Absolutely not before June 28th as that would be just begging for lawsuits or the stink-eye from the White House.

In the immediate 6 months people will be leaving, groups will he merging, or getting newly formed. Under those conditions nobody is going to get tapped on the shoulder. Upper management is going to be looking for stability after such major changes. As soon as things become stable then they'll go back to their plan and start executing on the planned cuts schedule.

I don't see any more outsourcing happening until the effects of the current outsourcing is understood, but I have to believe it's coming. They're able to externalize workers and then at that point cuts are simply correct adjustments.

In summary, as far as lower management goes you're safe as houses for the next 10 months. As far as upper management is concerned, it's steady so she goes unless they decide to whack a whole division at a time. If there's a smooth ride then a year from now the slaughterhouse will be spinning up though.

Any Director and below are waisting their time restructuring because they have no idea what their organization will look after the reorg is finalized on the 7th. My bet is they start with consolidating where possible then rebadging followed with huge layoffs where work duplications are found. Everything thing I am seeing and reading all points to the company will look completely different by June 28.

Completely be disagree. To make the 10b cut by 2020 they have to keep going. Add in the oath diaster the number is more like 15B by 2020. I am guessing the 7th is when it starts again. There still needs to be major changes to the business for them to make there budget cuts. Also when they started this crazy, Hans said you will not recognizing management by June 28 and right now it looks exactly the same with less people. My bet is rebadging starts Q1 for any organization they can kick out the door. How else can they make their 10B commitment to the street. Also if you look at Hans MO with his previous company I would expect him to keep going.
