Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Is this a forced vacation week @oracle?

Was wondering if the holiday week is still a shutdown.

I'm M4 and got a report from HR (unsolicited) that had all my employees with vacation banked (most are from acquisitions) I was told by a M6 to encourage :) employees to take their time off and how it would be a benefit to them. Right - the only benefit is to the $$ not being on the books and I felt pressured to be a mouthpiece for HR. Really? are we so hurting for revenue that we have to force people to take their measly vacation? These aren't highly paid staff and all their vacation hours combined doesn't equal the salary +bonus plan for one M6. Maybe we should look at another way to cut some overhead and start chopping from the top.

This is how Oracle pays the FY19 bonus - by the shutdown. Some strategy.

Have not heard that. A manager can always check on their employee's vacation by balance and I've not heard of any widespread reports being sent out.

Rumor has it that any banked vacation will be yanked back on June 1st when the new year starts. Managers have been getting reports of how much each of their employees have left and SC is concerned too much is still on the books, so they'll force it out for FY20. Don't hang around waiting for peanuts, go get a better job now and they'll have to pay you for it.

Actually, Monday, 31-December is a regular work day but a ton of people are taking that day off as a vacation.

Me, on the other hand, will not and go to work that day to save my vacation hours for when I get laid off and it gets paid out.

Yes, in the US and most countries we are off work using our banked time (whatever is left) or unlimited vacation. But other than essential support people, Oracle is closed until January 2nd. The end of accrued time I had banked is s---ed up by this week, and then there's unlimited vacation. Seems some people are really taking advantage of the concept by taking off 2 or 3 weeks a quarter. Most of my team is too scared to take any time off because we don't know what will happen to our jobs if we do.
