Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Macy’s faced its problems

While reading this article on the reinvention of Macy’s and its stores I gotta admit that it looks to me like the company did the right thing. Store closings and the uncertainty that came with them were hard on everybody and I’m sure that, at some point, each and every one of us blamed the company and its leadership. The other side of the story is that something had to be done and if things stayed the same, sooner or later we would share the fate of Sears or Toys R Us. In today's retail world the easiest thing is to blame Amazon and the development of online sales in general, but Macy's faced the truth that the loss of customers was not mainly to online retailers but to other brick and mortar retailers.

More staff? Lol. Just at the growth stores. Small stores are getting ready to be cut even more. Customers complaining about “no help” now, just wait....your MAGIC scores will be in the toilet.

I agree it is great what they did here. Will they continue with better merchandising, remodeled stores, more staff ...which is greatly needed...at the rest of the locations or just in New York?
