No more severance packages starting the beginning of new fiscal year 2019.

Severance will no longer be offered to managers or qualifying associates under the new H.O. guidelines.

I beg to differ. The company only gave receiving/claims 45 days, not 60. Accounting got 60 days I believe. It also matters if you are in a right to work state.

Seems to me that your job isn't gone just your hours changing. So if you are a night crew associate you could easily NOT get offered a severance.

Not how the company generally operates. A change in policy ? Maybe. But the company and those who make those decisions are not savages . Despite the rhetoric. They do their best, it’s a business and they need to do what leadership believes is right at the time. It may be proven to be an error later on, but they make decisions as they appear in the moment. Like every other business will, or has done. They are no worse than the next guys, and I would dare say, a good bit better than most. It’s the world we ALL live in today. Unfortunate but very true!

I wouldn't doubt it. We are coming up on more layoffs this year and they paid out tons of money in severance packages with the release of co managers and associates earlier this year. I'm sure greedy Walmart wants to avoid paying this amount of money out again..

This is major fake news. Wal-mart would never do this to their associates.

Sam's Club, seeing as it employs more than 100 people total (and more than 100 people per location), is required by law to give you 60 days notice of your job being terminated. If they fail to do that then they are legally required to pay you severance (ie: you show up to work on Jan 21st and discover your club is closing in 30 days ... then you are legally entitled to severance).

If you show up to work on Jan 21st and they inform you that your club will be closed on April 1st, they can legally NOT give you severance. However, companies usually offer severance to full-time employees even when they don't have to in order to keep them in the building and running the store until the location closes. Kind of a reward for sticking it through (thanks for saying, here's extra money).

For Sam's Club/Wal-Mart Inc. to decide there will be no more severance, ever, for anyone, would guarantee chaos in the stores that cut positions/close down with incredible amounts of employee theft and job abandonment leaving the stores inoperable.

TLDR - fake news
