Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Serious question - What are MR credentials?

What did he do at QCOM? He was virtually unknown before he joined.

He was hired with such fanfare. But he is neither a circuit designer, nor a computer architect, nor a process technologist.

MR led the team of snapdragon 810, the overheating one.

Well, we know he can't act as he screwed up his simple two lines during his first April Fool's Corporate Skit several years ago.

Did MR have anything to do with the Snapdragon 810/820 overheating debacle at Q?

@6fvt - It's easy - just look at all the VPs hired from Q. What have they done? Have their businesses or groups improved? Or is it just more chaos and more incompetence? MR joined 3 years ago and he was basically #2 in the company - that is a long time - what does he have to show for it?

@6dny - no way. Quite the opposite. If that were the case, the decision would have been announced by now.

Without any hesitation MR will be our new CEO, there is no other internal candidate left who is willing to take up this position.

How MR managed to get into his current role controlling 80% of Intel will remain a mystery only known to BoD and BK. What has he accomplished since joining?

BK made awful choices as CEO. But perhaps his worst decision was bringing on MR at such a high position. The best decision of the new CEO will be to clean up the mess left behind by BK.

Tracking from his early days in Philips GSM days to his QCOM days, God bless Intel for not getting a snake oil seller to lead this, once great, company. Yet, it is too late - MR brought enough gang members to increase his voting voice in Intel. People who are not getting MR's direct deliverable might like his British accent. A person's integrity and inside may be hard to change. Intel can still live long without great fab process advance by just focus on its cash cow x86 with good profit margin by cutting off low margin revenue growth products.

Qualities to look for in a tech CEO:

  1. Track record as technology visionary

  2. Track record as product visionary

  3. Ability to pick and attract solid leadership team

  4. Track record as an outstanding mentor

  5. Highly organized

  6. Outstanding manager

  7. Admired by direct reports

  8. Zero tolerance for BS

  9. Ability to admit mistakes

  10. Quickly course correct

Who in Intel MCM has these qualities?

He is particularly well suited to the colleague backstabbing and manager ego massaging culture at Intel. He would rise through the ranks quickly under focal.

At Qualcomm, Murthy was an eloquent speaking gentleman with a British accent and an air of superiority about his subject of conversation. Well, more like pontification than conversation. And perhaps arrogance is a better term than superiority. And there much cruder terms than gentleman that would be more to the mark. And not so much eloquence as plain brashness.

He does have a British-sounding accent though. And yeah, he was pushed out of QC in a big way. Or should I say biggly way? He does remind me of the current commander in chief.

Useless question and useless post. If BK could be made CEO then MR could be made anything...

Oh, and the id--t who is flaming JK for some unknown reason in the thread... LOL he's the guy who headed the design of the AMD Ryzen chips that are kicking Intel's lilly @$$ right now LOLOL have you been living under a rock or what? Geez with people like you around no wonder Intel's sinking under the waves!

Murthy was pushed out of Qualcomm. I sat through many weekly project meetings with him. Oh the horror stories I could tell. A penny pinching id--t who seemingly never understood the technology.

Always found others to blame for his poor decisions. He would ask who made that decision, only to hear someone tell him he did. Followed by, so you're blaming me. Who's that kind of sound like? Yep, MR could pass for our countries commander and chief.

He is part of BK's legacy in Intel. This question should be ideally directed to him but he left.
