Not very different, I had been slacking off since November. The last time I even saw my manager in person was in June.
Still out of work for an entire year after being let go in 2017. This is my 2nd rodeo since 2008 when I was out of work for a year again.
The job market is not doing as well as the media keeps saying. Its getting pretty bad for several people I know especially minorities of color and younger workers. Check on your friends... Ask how people are doing... Things are coming apart little by little.
The wife has been liking it foe sure ;)
I had a great life on the job. I expect to have a great retirement.
It was a good job. Good company.

I took the Infosys offer.
Nervous at this point.
Time will tell what happens. Not the worst job I have every had.

At work yesterday, a woman (her last day) was in tears saying that she made a mistake and should not have left. I felt very bad for her.
Doesn't feel different. Yet. It's only friggin Saturday.
Nothing has changed for me yet. Seems unreal that it has happened. It's the weekend. Next week and the next will let me know inside. I expect to enjoy it, but man is it going to be different.
I always wonder why someone would stay in a job a long time if they really thought it was a "hellhole." Maybe they self sabotage so they have something they can always complain about?
No place is perfect. Maybe if this person left they will find out if the grass is greener on the other side.
Not everyone looks at their job as a hellhole as you put it. I am grateful for having a job to put food on the table. It is all about how you view life and your job. Apparently, the original poster should have pressed the button or simply quit. Some of us never gave it a second thought. I do not understand why people stay if they are miserable. Find yourself another job that makes you happy as life is too darn short.
I felt pure joy and relief dropping off my laptop and walking ou for the last time after 25 years. Not an ounce of remorse or sorrow. Looking forward to working where I’m valued and enjoy coming into work. Much like it used to be at Verizon. Best of luck to all. Life is short.

You sure that gorilla wasn’t 800 pounds? Maybe the 3,000 pounder was the elephant in the room?
Or, maybe, that thing that was a monkey on tour back, albeit, a lot less than a 3,000 lb primate.
I love when you “green” behind the ears types blend idioms, but let’s nip it in the “butt”.
The feeling is incredible. After 30+ years it is very surreal. It was a great ride until the past 3 years or so when the clowns that took over made it a lousy company to work for. The best feeling was when my loser manager sent me an email at 2pm yesterday asking for status on some things I had been working on and i hit delete, closed the laptop, put it in the shipping box and taped it up. Walking out those doors felt like a 3000 lb gorilla finally jumped off my back.
This is a job, not prison. Get help.
