Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

It was a sad day Friday at Basking Ridge.

I said goodbye to a few good friends and a few peers on Friday. I wish them all well and I will miss them. “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”

As for myself, after a month of agonizing over this decision I decided to stay after 12 years. Why? Because I like what I do and the team I work on is great. My boss can be very tough on me at times but she has always had my back. It was my decision, mine only to stay and I own that. I work hard and I am paid extremely well for it. There are no opportunities out there better then what I have here. The grass is the same green on both sides of the fence. Will I get laid off some day? Yes, very likely but until then, my life is good. I work to live.

There is a changing of the guard going on at Verizon....a cultural change....You are part of it. Good luck with the time you have left....but you are on your way out.

Nothing changes unless something changes.

You should transfer to the retail side. You won’t have to worry about being treated or paid well ever again. Bonus is that your boss will never have your back and will tell you how terrible you are on every transaction. Makes for an easy decision. If they ever offer buyouts to the retail side they would have at least 90% of store personnel apply.

Good for you. What is your annual base and total pay if you are saying you are paid well?
