Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Thinking about writing a book about Intel's demise

Just wanted to change the interest on here. Plenty of juicy topics: act, 14nm, mobile, diversity, amd competition, acquisitions, leadership etc. Let me know what you think and if you want me to soccer anything in particular?

Intel used to be synonymous for silicon technology leadership but gone are those days as the bungled vision and execution of the current technologist and leaders is clear.

The next generation of leaders has been selected and it ain’t intel. Yeah, they are making a lot of money and looks like 2018 is going to set records but so did Kodak and IBM in their heyday. Intel is more like Kodak than IBM, will indeed make for a good book as the mismanagement and port technology decisions from ex TMgr BK all the way down to SA and MB reverbate thier damage for the next few years. Won’t show up immediately in bottom line but the impact of decisions made 5 years ago are clear now with 1274 and iall the others will become more appareant as the tide pulls back exposing it all. Will be a great HBR and book indeed.

It should be noted that AMD and others like IBM will ride Samsung and TSMC leadership as well as upstarts in the ARMy camp while Inte will wither on its own without scale or technology

“Initially, there will be the usual suspects working with 3nm, such as Nvidia, Xilinx, Apple and Samsung,” said Joanne Itow, an analyst with Semico Research. “Once they get all the kinks worked out, you’ll see Qualcomm, MediaTek, AMD, Intel (Altera) and others jumping on board.”

How about INTEL's focal distribution quotas? How about the opinions of managers who either stayed or left Intel after they were asked to rate someone BE, SSL4, SSL5, etc. to meet the quota? Wikipedia has a good article called the "Vitality Curve"

Another decade of waste and mistakes makes for another best seller

Two CEOs, strategic mistakes, missed opportunities, the fall of Moore’s leadership, arrogance and missmanagement makes for another good sequel

Already one. Look on Amazon for "Losing Faith: How the (Andy) Grove Survivors Led the Decline of Intel's Corporate Culture".

Corruption and bloviation are the defining characteristics of the average intel manager. You can start with that.

SA failed. But BH failed before him. AK is a joke. MM is smart but not right fit for job.

I think a good few chapters on how LTD squander technology leadership on SA watch and the circus like culture there will be juicy.

Current circus with AK and MM is worthy of a chapter too
