Has there ever been a more redundant role than the Sales Manager? Least amount of tangible responsibility in the store. Walks around all day "Helping" but has very little actual responsibility other than managing the specialists. The same specialists who neglect daily processes and never follow up with customers. Hilarious.
I hear now they will be transitioned and renamed? With even less responsibility? Good thing. It's not hard to see where these stores are suffering the most. Sales. I guess the blame is on the Sales Manager?
There's a reason they've flip-flopped on this role over the years. They get rid of it... test it... bring it back.. change it.. It's amazing. How about letting the ASM over the area be responsible for the important stuff in their area... SALES!
The reality is that the Sales Manager has so little real responsibility in the day to day processes that they have time to pin the tail on the donkey and try to come up with reasons why store sales are down. Most of their findings is just blaming everyone but themselves. It's easy to see that the elimination of this role is going to come in favor of more help on the floor where its needed. The responsibilities can be given to other ASM's who can actually get the job done.
