Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

No layoffs in January?

Any chance we can go through at least January before the layoffs start up again?

And I'm not talking about a big layoffs round that would affect hundreds of people, I'm talking Oracle's usual "two here, three there" style of layoffs that's been happening throughout the entire last year.

there will always be layoffs in some areas and always be new hires in other areas and new acquisitions as well. that's the way things work. this site likes to focus on layoffs but what has the overall trend in employee count been? sure, we axed entire continents (ok, maybe a little hyperbolic) - only to have them return with employees from new inquisitions. what are we up to know - almost 140k people.

with stock market down this year (I am guessing it is predicted in recent days), Oracle will go for other acquisitions, and mergers. that is the only way this company shows growth, with no in-house innovation engine sprouting their growth. That means more chaos, more layoffs..

No, that's a ridiculous question. There's been layoffs continuously for years, mostly under the radar and across whatever org isn't doing well or aimed at the oldsters and higher paid employees. Same people in charge, why would it stop now?

Here’s the thing: as long as O is absorbing other companies, there will always be people targeted. Also as long as they keep moving support from country to country. Not to mention there are always older workers to jettison. IOW, no chance.
