Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

When will it start?

Any ideas on when "organizational efficiency" layoffs will start?

Honeywell -- a proud tradition of breaking careers and spirits. Maybe a quote from the Terminator movie is appropriate: "Listen. Understand. That Terminator is out there. It can't be reasoned with, it can't be bargained with...it doesn't feel pity of remorse or fear...and it absolutely will not stop.Ever. Until you are dead.". Well, OK, without a job anyway.

in our area of CORP it's also about ~65-75 RIF's target across about 1,200 employee sized group. in general I would just call that the "yearly RIF" as we have pretty much RIF'd at least 5% of the team every single year for the 5 years I have been in CORP. Nothing special, nothing secret, just normal.... for HON.

Some of the Morris Plains CORP Finance folks were already told in December they need to decide if they are moving to North Carolina or being RIF'd. That's a fact. It's part of the hub strategy. Hub Strategy is a FACT and has been mentioned in Town Halls for SBG's and CORP functions.

Even IBM has done this -

In a story this year, ProPublica described how IBM has forced out more than 20,000 U.S. workers aged 40 and over in just the past five years in order to, in the words of one internal company planning document, “correct seniority mix.” To accomplish this, the company used a combination of layoffs and forced retirements, as well as tactics such as mandatory relocations seemingly designed to push longtime workers to quit.

From this story - https://www.propublica.org/article/older-workers-united-states-pushed-out-of-work-forced-retirement --

Once budgets and targets are set in the next few weeks detailed plans and actions follow. It's the same every year.

The comment about Resideo having a hub strategy is complete BS.

70 RIFs isn't a lot for the whole corporation. Unless HON suddenly has decided to improve its reputation, I think it's unlikely that move packages will be offered. Move packages offered for the corporate HQ move, but that's been the exception so far.

Ditto for Resideo....RIFs and general cuts to start very soon and be pretty severe. Also, pursuing a HUB strategy to get a reduction and elimination of WFH.

I was able see our Corp plan because my id--t boss forwarded an email and the attachment had RIF plan numbers for each month January thru June - a few each month with a total of 70 gone by June 30

The most interesting part was the estimated attrition due to enforcement of hub strategy. They are expecting over 20% to quit when they are told they must move to hub this year. Unclear if they were going to offer move packages or not. 2019 should start with RIFs in January and it will be nonstop for a few months. And if China slow done is real expect even more
