As someone who isn't in management and has been with the company for around 5 years, why would anyone want to move up in this company?
It seems like moving up is a good way to ensure you get fired.

With PSIs gone there will be about 70% less big ticket sales. Managers will no longer bonus out so what is the point?
Exactly. LP didn’t manage anyone. So how are they a manager ?? Plus the company announced hiring 6000 more managers.
Manager of process, not people. Big difference. It even clarifies that on the PMP.
"What managers were let go? PSI not a manager. LP not managers" ..
You're an id--t. LPM literally stands for loss prevention Manager..

get out now while the job market is good
Right now, it appears that permanent part timers, like me, are in the safest jobs at Lowe's right now, which is a sad commentary.
There is no reason to work hard and be a retail manager. It doesn’t help your resume. It won’t help you transfer to a different field.
What will help is just apply to the new field and work hard if you like the new job. Retail is a horrible environment to work in, there is no work life balance, no loyalty from the employer and the customer are ungrateful when you assist them.
Get out now while the job marker is good.
For me it's up and out. I'm trying to get one of the department supervisor positions, stay a year, and then leave for a better employer. I had an informal conversation with the store manager; he told me what the "salary range" was for these position - less than what a specialist makes. Too bad my former department manager is an SSM and told me what rate I should expect.
