Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

That's the way things work

There will always be layoffs in some areas and always be new hires in other areas and new acquisitions as well. that's the way things work. this site likes to focus on layoffs but what has the overall trend in employee count been? sure, we axed entire continents (ok, maybe a little hyperbolic) - only to have them return with employees from new inquisitions. what are we up to know - almost 140k people.

A short and a pretty general post, but this is very true. OP by @WW9G8Gv-1djx

Laying off in high cost areas like America and hiring in low cost areas like India.

ooops, d-mn autocorrect. that's pretty funny though. and having been through one of those inquisitions, I can say its an accurate representation

From new inquisitions? That would be Freudian slip, right?

I believe that Oracle is doing what IBM was accused of and that is jettison as many older higher paid people that they can, while hiring as many younger new grads as they can. That would be another explanation of why the headcount doesn’t change that much.
