I was an operations manager, was laid off for a month and came back as a hardlines zone supervisor at a different store in the same district. Hindsight being 20/20, that was a stupid decision (had a few offers for supervisor/ASM positions put Sears paid a bit more, imagine that) but I am fully aware of my mistake and am putting in whatever effort I can to look for another job similar to the one I now have. It's hard to do working almost 50+ hours a week with no SGM or softlines zone supervisor, but I gotta do it. What happens if I need to verify my prior employment and positions worked as a condition of hire through Sears or its verification service? From my understanding, Sears pays a verification service (Thomas & Co. IIRC) to do this. If Sears goes under or stops paying, what incentive does the verifier company have to verify employment on behalf of Sears?
As far as references go, my former SGM just upped and left out of the blue a few weeks ago with literally no warning (no way to contact, he apparently changed numbers) and my DM's are constantly coming and going. The district I am in is on its fourth DM in a year's time. What do I do?
