Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Unpush Button?

Has anyone who pushed the button to leave changed their mind this week? If so, why? What changed this week that makes you want to stay?

Upper management is seeing the numbers and are now told to get involved and actively recruit to retain people. Given what this company has done in the past with its management, don't walk, run. Run for the door. Especially if you are on the core side of the business.

I haven't unclicked nor will I. I haven't been pressured to change my mind but who knows if my boss even knows who the hell friggin clicked yet anyway. I would think they'd get the list after the revokers tomorrow, but that makes sense so who knows. I'm just done. I'd be OK with March, it's only 4.5 MORE months of misery I could deal if I had to. June would kill me.

Dysfunctional environment. Perfect description.

Nothing changed. I can’t wait to move on from this dysfunctional environment. I wish the company and remaining employees all the best, but I’m exhausted after many years and I’m 100% out. No second thoughts.

No. There has been zero communication from leadership as to the future other than high level "rah rah" speeches. Nothing that allows an individual to make an intelligent decision based on their specific situation (i.e. what does the org chart look like down to the rank and file). I have been through this too many times where execs are singing the company song before, during and after a RIF. Everyone gets on board to sing the V Team song until some realize that it really didn't mean them because they were no longer welcome on the team. Unclick and risk 1/2 year worth of pay and hope for the best?....nope. Time to cash out and move forward. If the stock does well, I will smile and clap, knowing that I am still a shareholder.

Seems like some of us are being delay clicked already. Although the official date of notification is 12/10, a peer of mine was already told yesterday by our Director that she will be held until June. I received a heads up call this morning that I will be held until March. Me thinks they got a lot more clickers than they predicted.. S---age for us that are more than ready to get the hail out of here sooner than later...

If you stay or uncheck the button, what is the reality? Will there be so much frustration and stress due to the increasing workload, that everyone will be at each other's throats? Will everyone be threatened with discipline over every metric? What does the post buyout world look like for Verizon employees who stay? That's what convinced me to keep it checked. No matter how hard I have worked over the years and how well I have performed, the stress level that is about to come will be unnerving. I would like to keep my sanity. I already put in 50-55 hours a week I'm not given anymore. My opinion, it's going to require more going forward. Money cannot buy happiness. And yes you can say it certainly makes it easier, but what are you losing with that trade-off? If someone knows for sure that I'm wrong tell me and I will uncheck. Sometimes you have to go with your gut. What do they normally say, ah yes, your first answer is normally the right one.

spot on rql, couldn't say this better. It's in their self interest for one to stay. Everyone has to look at this objectively and if they were in a director or VP level they would be saying the same likely which isn't maybe what an employee really should do.

I am ignoring the false promises that contradict what senior leadership has shared. If they are making a push, it's because you are critical asset for their well being, not necessarily the best move for you.

What did Shankar say that is making you regret

Strong campaign by VP and Directors (plural) to stay. It was just enough for my personal situation. But then Shankar starts talking and saying the wrong things -once again- and now I have my regrets.
