Sharing an article where spokesperson has confirmed the LRs in CX unit -

https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/11/06/cisco_layoffs_customer_experience/

But I doubt that this number 200-300 is right. Actual number I guess is close to 1000. There are LRs in CSG IOS-XR Service Provider etc too. It is very cruel act seriously, there is no negotiation being done with the fired people at all. There are only communications being done about the Resignation send date, LastWorkingDay, Severance pkg, that's it, and all these are pre-decided, no requests considered.

Even sjc i guess no longer attracts or retains the cream of indian talent let alone american

It will soon be at bgl level i hope - too many prima donnas there c-apping on native bgl indians with worst quality code but only they the self appointed gods are allowed to implement

the salary is not indexed as per inflation.

No US company can match the India inflation rate!

BLR office "was" good some 5-8 years back, where you have both experienced and fresh talents. Now, it is worthless to spend time as the salary is not indexed as per inflation. More and more smart people even do not consider working here any more. The resume that we get is not of the best. Even the new managers are from Wipro or Services companies and believe in mere fixing bugs. No innovations just lousy demos which have no sense.

Contd - i meant less than 10 years tenure

And the fall from grace even for genuinely accomplished pe/diro in blr has been rapid and brutal. I have seen multiple such cases with own eyes

Nobody anywhere is truly safe in cisco not even de or fellows

Outside world is moving on and pays well too. Kids with 5 years exp in amzn msft startups are earning more than 15 yr veterans in cisco . bangalore. Our hiring team is no longer in contention for the best talent whether fresh or experienced

Bangalore is where most products are sent to die

So long as you are cool with legacy tools and technology and like spending all your time in fixing bugs and the occasional small feature, below 40 years, less than 19 years tenure, less than g11, low paid vs industry rivals and never say to idiof managers then you are safe

Cross any of these red lines and you are no more safe in blr :) better to think over what you want in life sone are very happy in this mode in blr and have supportive mgrs giving them fat hikes

But do bear in mind the gap between your work and industry changes outside will continue to grow and it will become harder the later you let go of the csco ghost. I have a depressed friend who has spent some 12 years just triaging bad pre release code and fixing bugs in one component. I am trying to help him come out of the hole.

Chuck and Kelly are doing “rolling lay-offs”. This means there will be layoffs every quarter from now. Each quarter will focus on a different part of the business. CX was the focus this time.
