Someone at my store said that he heard that many employees of Sears and Kmart are going to call out sick on Thanksgiving and Black Friday to protest the cut to severance, lack of product to sell for commission people, lack of transparency and lack of raises. Anyone else heard this?

There's a lot of chatter of a massive massive layoff coming immediately after Black Friday. If managers in the know are saying this, they're probably just telling you to not kill yourself for a company that doesn't give a damn.
Because no one will call out or want to help their fellow employees not have to work harder (which is commendable) is the exact reason that SHC can take advantage of everyone. They know that they can do anything, cut anything, treat you any way they want and no one will complain or do anything about it. So as your families, finances and lives continue to be affected you stand silent and refuse to make a stand and take it.
And I walked out a year ago when they cut my hours after I took off (they would not approve the time off) so that I could attend my sons graduation and I have never looked back.

Come on, somebody have some guts and do a sick out! I would, but I already escaped the madness. It's a great idea that should be done country wide.
I'm not happy with Sears either but I'm not going to call out and put an increased work load on my already overworked and underpaid fellow Sears associates.

Yes the San Diego district is communicating with the few stores still open to call out. Planning on calling out the whole weekend. We have nothing to sell, most likely we will be used to ring up clothes instead of appliances
