No. Look out for yourself. So don't train your replacement. Just don't do it. Use any time where possible (yes, at work) to discretely train YOURSELF in any areas you feel weak in. At the very least, do as much coasting at work that you can so you have a little more energy in the evenings. Use that energy to get your resume updated, do some reading, or whatever else you need to do to prepare for your next job. VZ have already determined that you are surplus to requirements, your skills and knowledge are no longer valued or needed ; it is now their time to own this belief, and act on it by doing their own backfilling and training. The time for your loyalty and dedication to VZ has come to an end.
@1mri, if you’ve been here 30 years, and you’ve got 6 weeks to school your replacement, you’ll have to impart 5 years of hard-earned wisdom into the phyche of your young protéjé each and every one of those 6 weeks, assuming you take no days off.

However, on the upside, given another mere 1,554 weeks, she’ll bring to the table what you had been delivering at your apex.
I got notified today. I’ll be gone EOY. My replacement has been hired. My job the next 6 weeks is to get her up to speed.

Yes people are getting denied. Im one of them
Some people might be denied on the basis of how critical some department is or isn't. I could see some member of management telling someone in such a position they are trying to keep them from leaving.
Two of those denied posts have a ":(" in them...total BS posts

I’m very close to my VP. That being said she told me I wasn’t accepted.
Expect a lot more trolling. A very large number of people are just counting days until they leave now. Work has slowed, people are bored, and many are immature.
Very few if any will be denied. At worst they will be extended into June.

HR mentioned on a call yesterday that no one will be notified until Dec 10. Don't believe the trolls.
Haha. Totally trolling. The executives don’t care enough about the proms to make a decision Thanksgiving week. Why would they give up their holiday to even consider it? As far as they’re concerned we aren’t even employees any more. They’ll break out the red markers after Thanksgiving if we are lucky.
I think it's people trolling. The letter from Marc Reed yesterday made it crystal clear that the company won't be announcing the departures list until December 10. If they let individuals know before that day, they can pretty much kiss that worker's productivity goodbye. We're still 38 days away from the first big round of departures on December 28, so the company is right to expect that people continue to work, since they're still collecting a paycheck.
I would think, very few will know anything real, before the 10th.

I think the current round of messages are BS. It will take a little time to be accepted/denied
The only people who might be denied would be those with very low tenure whose entire group accepted the VSP.
