Believe me or not, Mechanical will reduce to 6450 locomotives, manpower projection are 1/2 an FTE per unit. Friday the 16th total man power counts were 3780 in locomotive, about 400 over FTE requirements. December 3rd look for major personal change announcements, facilities that previously relied on coal shipments will see reductions first as well as major rebuild locations.

I really thought the title of this was appropriate in every way. People, you need to understand that these cuts aren't going away until Fritz gets his numbers! Sadly I believe the cuts will continue to keep the numbers! Does anyone remember him apologizing for the title changing? Did anyone NOT see this coming after changing the titles back? NO ONE IS SAFE AT THIS COMPANY!!! My advice to you is to get out now. This once great company isn't worth it anymore. If you "feel" it coming, then just leave. There is life after the UP. I'm one of the unfortunate ones affected by this hellhole of a company! Now I'm just going to sit back and watch it meltdown! It's coming, just wait!
From what I heard the pay cuts were to prevent management cuts only. Everything else is geared for the crafts.
Proviso management took paycut but they’re still offering buyouts? What are the buyout offers?
Update for proviso. Buyouts posted for ncfo, iam, ibew, and arasa. Apparently sheet metal turned down the offers all together so nothing posted. Management also took 5% pay cuts to keep everyone.
New hires are being let go systemwide in Mechanical. Buyouts are in place for all crafts in Mechanical. After that comes the ax. 10% cuts in Mechanical with over 1000 Locomotives going into storage.
Will operation deep throat hit Roseville locomotive shop . So far no electricians or machinist have been laid off . But we feel it’s coming
