Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon is positioned to do well with its structure?

There is a lot of pessimism on this board, and for good reason from some people. But the reality is that this company is positioned to do very well moving forward with Fios, 5g and oath. Let me explain, oath makes sense because Verizon is looking to extract advertisement dollars from google and facebook, fiber makes sense because it has unlimited bandwidth, and wireless or 5g is essentially a proxy to spread Fios without physically wiring locations unless its a wealthy town. The stock will rise, the company will continue to pay a dividend and people will be happy.

An interesting post by @Wey5fUb-ovi . I can agree that fiber and 5g are bound to do well. Oath, not so much. In any case, I would like to hear other thoughts on the subject.

I agree that VZ is in a goof position to profit from Fios and 5G. The question though is will they be able to execute on that strategy. I tend to agree with 1eat. I can't see how VZ will be able to execute at the pace they need to with the VSP and VZ 2.0 changes. Organizations can only absorb so much change. If you look at Ericsson they had some bad quarters once the full impact of the layoffs that Hans did finally caught up with them. I suspect the same will happen here. Rolling out 5G and gaining the efficiencies of VZ 2.0 will be no easy feat, there is risk that VZ will not meet the Street's expectations. If that happens, watch out.

I can't comment on OATH other than to say that when I use Yahoo Finance the experience is not good. If that is indicative of something that is meant to be a growth play, I think VZ is in trouble.

Good grief. Stock always goes up when a corporation is cutting jobs. It did for Hans at Ericsson. It's like catnip for Wall Street (and European money markets).

Then when the customers are ignored or mishandled by incompetent contractors and start leaving, in droves, the stock tanks and Hans gets fired. That's also how it worked for Hans at Ericsson.

The stock is also going up because Verizon made BS promises that they can't follow through on. When Wall Street realizes they've been flimflammed on 5G, the stock will tank.

The company has already given up on Oath, just like the gave up on GO90. They as much as said so, just like they did with GO90 before they shuttered it. The advertising isn't gaining market share, it's rapidly losing market share. Oath was #3, now Amazon passed them and Oath is #4 and losing ground.

The employees that built the company are for the most part on "I don't give a sh!t" mode, because of indiscriminate layoffs. There goes the innovation they need to make 5G work.

The board and Hans are draining the blood from from Verizon. When they're done with that they'll sell the carcass off, piece by piece. Look around -- it's happening everywhere.

I'm sure some people were cheerful and whistling a happy tune as the Titanic sank, but they were probably drunk.

Positive about Verizon? Great! But can someone cut down on pasting the same tired convenient question and replies? It becomes obvious quickly. At least give us something fresh. Talk about some hidden jewel in Oath that has you excited, but not that Facebook will use them in place of their own advertising network. Absurd!

There is pessimism on this board. The stock hasn't done well in many years. The company hasn't been managed well. The investments have not done well, no proven track record. They are over 100 billion in debt. This year they received lower corporate tax rate. They have announced they are offering 44,000 managers a package to leave. That is why the stock is inching up, it is what stock holders like to hear.

Well Said, Strategically it is well position in the market for future. This is the vision of board who represent shareholders, and envisioned for a very longtime future of this company. Look at any telecom stock price, they were sinking ships. If that is the case - who else can do other than VZ in USA? Name one. Can cable do what we are doing? Pessimism is what kills companies. Current leadership is open, and ask Lowell/Ivan, and others. You will get same answer.

Recession in the corner...watch out who want to en-cash and get into a job...
