The BOD needs to pretend it's acting with urgency, so they announce at the April meeting and execute in May. Fools who have not paid attention will think the Board has finally seen the light.

2ugs. Is there any reason as to why you say “May” for Ginni to go??? I’m just curious. May would seem a little early for a new CEO to come up to speed against the background that no one has been named yet. NOW it could be that it’s announced just after the stock holders meeting (April) so May would seem to be logical, but there could be terms like “Ginni will serve thru Dec of 2019” to help the new CEO accommodate to the new position. I believe the cloud strategy has run it’s course (dumping smaller customers, and selling off lesser profitable divisions), with just a few house cleaning issues left to go (services) being the elephant in the room. BUT once that has been announced, nothing should impede her departure, and then we’ll see if the New CEO has any “new “ ideas about how to streamline/restructure/renew IBM

It’s well known that the Red Hat acquisition was the only way to force Ginni out of a contract renewal. She will be replaced in May. Sad that we needed to sink a load of cash that we don’t have in order to do so, and I’m not sure that the Red Hat CEO is the right replacement, but at least she will finally be gone.

That ain't gonna happen. Acquisitions are a temporary lifeboat for well connected IBMers who are scrambling to get off the sinking ship. Also, anyone over 50 in the field or customer facing will start to find themselves on PiP's in 13 month or so.

In my opinion, as a long term IBMer, the only chance for this to be successful is if Red Hat executives get to lead the “new” company. I feel badly for the Red Hatters. That will likely not happen and IBM chaos will take over. Update your CV and keep your options open.
