One thing I remember from my days in Hoffman, with wave after wave of layoffs, you would always see someone parading new employees through the atrium, showing them where everything was located. There could be a massive layoff, and the next day you would see a procession of new hires being escorted about. Is this still happening ?

Those days have been done for a while now. Certainly the number of new hires.
Cut current employee hours to around 10 per week. Hire a bunch of new people. Store level.
