Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Store closing

They are closing a store in my district and offering the reps a severance package or to be absorbed into other stores. If nobody takes the severance then my store will be way over staffed. How the heck is that a feasible plan! They must have a road map for now they’re going to get everybody out.

If the reps are smart they will take the package and you won't have to worry about overstaffing.

What about the Hadley store? That lease is expiring in January.

The Holyoke Mall Verizon store in Massachusetts is a C size store. The lease is expiring at the end of the year and store will be converting to an authorized reseller. I know this because i work for indirect.

Verizon has the ability to increase headcount for any location they want at any time. This very situation happened recently to the destination store in Santa Monica. Several other corporate locations opened headcount so the employees could apply. The headcount was increased by 1-2 in each location and quota went down. Naturally attrition will happen in the upcoming year and staff will go back to a normal level. It does however feel that most stores are already overstaffed but at least Verizon has found a way to keep several people from unemployment.

They only get absorbed if the headcount is open. They can apply to work there or anywhere else. If they don’t land a job by the date on the paperwork they get severance. READ THE PAPERWORK!
