Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

What's there to be thankful for?

Thomson Reuters really killed any enjoyment I might have gotten from this Thanksgiving. I can't just stop stressing on command. I hate that this is affecting me so much that it will ruin one of my favorite holidays for me, but I just can't escape it.

So thank you, TR, for making this a c-appy Thanksgiving for me and many more employees. Job well done on your part.

I've been at TR Legal for over a decade and have watched it go further down the tubes each year. I've been searching for other work but can't find anything. I'm scared I will lose my home.

I just want to hang on for at least 1-3 years more. I look back so fondly on the RIA/Thomson days. Anyone ever see the move “Margin Call?” The opening scene where the HR people with their clipboards come out of the elevator to fire almost the entire floor was chilling and I hoped we would never go through it ourselves.

Appreciation party? Maybe in core locations. There will be no X-mas or Holiday party in NY this year. We got an email saying the money would be donated to charity.

There is an employee “Appreciation” get together mid-December. Those who have been laid off are also invited. I was one who was let go, I really don’t think they appreciate me or I’d still be employed so I will decline their kind offer. On the other hand I do feel I was lucky to be let go with perks and feel sorry for those who are staying. No saying what this company will devolve into.

A certain senior director had this one line: “We should be proud of a company that helps people and orgs be more transparent. Our products help people be compliant with taxation which finances schools and hospitals. We should be proud we’re not selling sugar water.”

Lol.

They are a pretty terrible company once you get away from that culty positive thinking nonsense leadership tries to brainwash people with. A few of us saw the writing on the wall once the Blackstone story broke and got the hell out of there.

There will probably be some bs mood elevator email that will go out next week to calm the masses down
