Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Mandatory meeting info

Just to let you guys know, these mandatory meetings that are happening is to let all the clubs know you can’t stack no more then 2 pallets in the top steel. Things have been falling and the company is demanding no more then 2 pallets in the top steel. Don’t matter if it’s partials or full.

If you don’t work overnight, then you have no idea the stress this company as put on that crew. If your overnight is perfect then pat yourself on the back. We are the busiest club in the area and the smallest overnight staff. The GM doesn’t care. That one comment where it’s too much frieght, trucks backed up explains our club. Then they cut the hours to four days a week. It’s laughable now.

There was an accident in Tennessee, no one hurt, is why the steel stacking issue. Training has to be the first thing to be done. Forklift drivers have to slot pallets in the steel correctly. Managers do not have time to correct forklift driver errors. Maybe the managers should do the steel walk before the drivers leave and make the drivers correct their mistakes. The problem here is that none is working together, just do your job correctly the first time. Remember the only right you have with this company is the right to quit.

Managers should all be trained and licensed to operate a fork lift so instead of doing the steel safety walk the can do a steel safety drive and fix what they see is wrong on the spot instead of instructing an associate to do it. Kills two birds with one stone as the saying goes.

I wish OSHA would go in some of these clubs. Buyers cram these clubs full of freight. Nightcrew is running pretty much on a skelton crew and are always behind. When im forced to work overnight i never see them take a break

How bout managers doin their jobs correctly hy doin the mandatory steel safety walks every morning. Isnt that the safety measure to find these problems before something could happen. Here again, hold everyone accountable except management.

Yeah...uncomfortably full!! Dumbest catch phrase ever! They make new labels at the DC with pallet weights indicated by the smallest font available(great for the new inexperienced drivers). Nice knee jerk reaction to a dangerous situation. Maybe a little more training in the forklift stacking area would be a good idea. An improper double stack could be way more dangerous than 5 partials properly stacked in hba. But what do I know?

@OP I'm taking that with a grain of salt since I know a number of clubs were working on that a few days ago.

Seems odd they would have a meeting about something that's already happened.

Good luck to the high volume clubs. Company want's to cram excessive freight into clubs. Threaten when clubs fall behind on trucks because of no room. Now can't stack to accommodate millions of dollars of freight above people's heads.
