Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Fraud

Ever since Verizon has changed the credit scoring fraud has skyrocketed. I'm 300% to qouta because people are getting approved for 1000$ iPhones and telling us they won't pay the bill and that they are just selling the phones. Our store went from mildly busy to extremely busy. 40 people in the que every min we are open and it's all fraud. To put into perspective we usually get about 20-30 new phone lines a day now we are getting 60-80 a day. We keep marking as fraud and they will keep getting reapproved. Oh and btw that doesn't include in store pickups. We are now getting 40-50 a day.....we are talking new accounts people. That makes over 100 new phone lines a day each rep getting at least 10....what is going on?

Manager in a store that has a lot of fraud traffic. Tried to combat it until had DM tell me the only way to beat fraud is to sell more fraud. They don’t care anymore.

Update. Store finished with 159 phones. 340 activations three days into the month. I don’t think you other reps from other regions realize what’s going on. First party fraud. Fraud department is approving them. Can’t deny. It’s in an OST. IF THEY PASS FRAUD AND YOU FEEL AS IF ITS FRAUD YOU MUST RELEASE the phone.

No lie. I’m in the same district. 104 Activation’s with the regional manager present in store to watch it.

These must be stores in NJ where the Governor will give all frauds a drivers license...no questions! So just be good citizens and give these poor people a free IPhone and a coupon for a free pizza.....might as well throw a 200.00 gift card in for the season too.

No I'm not lying or exaggerating , everyone in my store is over 300% to qouta and we are doing the best we can to flag accounts. What kind of reply is that anyways ? I've been with the company for years and never lied or misused my integrity. It's obvious you don't work in any sales Dept. Because this is widespread due to the new credit scoring system and it's not as easy as sending a mass text when 50 are in the que everyday and 30 are fraud. That was rude and honestly uncalled for.

You are an employee we could do without. Have some integrity and flag the app for fraud. No way is you manager allowing that many fraudulent lines get through. You are clearly lying or exaggerating.

Why even open up that can of worms. If fraud walks into our store, we deny them and put out a mass text blast to the other stores to let them know. We can smell them coming through the door and we don’t entertain them at all. They keep coming because you guys let them.

Because it counts for sales that day and keep their bosses off of their back for the day. Simple.

What is the chargeback period for sales? Isn't it something like 90 to 120 days?? So why would most of the employees and management be ok with selling fraud if they are just going to get charged back on it?

I work in telesales, and the fraud is absolutely insane since the new approval model started. At the end of an 8 hour shift I took upwards of 90 calls. Flagged probably 20 plus because the people calling in couldn’t pronounce the name for the persons info that they stole. Still getting complaints that I’m not closing enough sales. I’ll continue to take that many calls with all of this fraud because I’m not coming in next month to 75 charge backs. Prepaid fraud is heating up too for some reason. People wanting XSMax’s on 30 dollar prepaid plans? Common man

We had a customer in the store blatantly tell us that someone made a Facebook live telling everyone to come to our store to get a free iPhone. I’ve even overheard customers say that they’re going to sell the phone anyway. The next day, our store was hit with 25 in-store pickups. We never process them. We just let them fall out the system. In-store pickup option should be taken away altogether.

A couple of Reps in my store are advertising on social media like a used car dealership. “Come see me, Everyone is approved”!!

Blatant fraud, but managers could care less, cause they actually have people in the store and adds going on the board. The fraudulent customers don’t care what the bill is going to be cause they army going to pay it. So family tmp and hums are being slammed for good measure.

Yes , and we do. Then they stay in the store calling cs to get the fraud hold off and are reapproved which then puts the heat back on us and this continues in a circle until they start harassing employees. I have never in my 8 years working here seen so much back to back fraud. We cant even help real customers. When i say everyone is getting approved i mean everyone from people with no jobs to 19 year olds who have no credit. bam approved for 1000$ phone. I completely agree with you about putting everything on hold. I have tried, its made matters worse with people just hanging around in groups in the store threatening employees if they don't get them approved. We even had cs reps yelling at employees for putting fraud holds on their accounts. Honestly im hoping someone at verizon reads this and puts a stop to it immediately. I can guarantee you in jan-feb every rep in our store will have 30-50 chargebacks and won't even think about trying to hit quota.

Flag them as Fraud and put a hold on the accounts. Then when they're in store pickups refuse it. If you think its fraud you and your manager have the rights to deny their phone.
