be me total 10yr exp

cisco bangalore

grade 8 and pay 17Lacs.

manager says compensation ratio is 1

me ask around, everyone is g10 or g8 with more pay around me

  1. how to gather data about pay?

  2. how do I prove that I am not getting what I deserve?

  3. will HR case work? are the grade/pay scales transparent?

My advice...you are underpaid. It's your fault. Apply elsewhere get a job that pays more and get out. This is what i was told. Cold hearted... Rude...yeah... Whatever...but true...if you had s---ed or fought enough you would have already got it!

The company doesn't have standard , that indicate HR big problem , it is not surprises since the company does layoff regularly , leaving company is good option I think, if you think your skill and experience higher .

Base salary in csco blr is usually half your gross

Base salary matters for hra and PF so they keep it low

Dont worry about base just worry about your gross

You should be mid g10/early g11 in 10 years but looks like they will keep you in g8 and string you along with fake promises of next cycle

Get out of the echo chamber and look around. Use hackerrank online and coding interview books like narasimha karumanchi to prep well

Csco bgl is great place for management and PE cronies only

You are underpaid

I can tell you for a fact that freshers from iit were offered gross 12 this year and another 10 rsu . I have a friend who is earning 17 gross with 3 years exp and mtech from iit( considered as 1 yr exp by hr)

If you really want to stay the pay bands are very wide now like g12 is 36-59 so they can give you a fat jump but likely wont

But biggest issue i see is you are still g8 after 10 years. I was g8 at 4, g10 at 8, g11 at 12 and g12 at 16 - and thats a bit slow vs the rate at SJc which gets faster vs bgl type desd zones

There is no way you can fix this issue other than leaving cisco and working where they value your career

The SP xr is full of sufferers like you who have 15 yes exp but kept at g10 permanently. Its these peoples fault having to gumption to look outside and get their worth, some are afraid, some are lazy, some in comfort zone of 11am-4:30pm bugfix work

Have some self interest and look outside. It will open your eyes. Good luck with leaving the sinking ship
