Tengiz New Housing/Office Compex Status

Any truth to FGP (Future Growth Project) pining away $500MM on the new Tengiz Housing/Office complex only to mothball it before it was completed?

As I recall, it was supposed to be named (in Kazakh) something along the lines of Prosper Village. Apparently, the only folks to prosper were the primary contractor and Fluor.

The clock is ticking to see how long it takes "the moderator" to pull this post!

Thats hard to believe. Not enough space to house all the construction folks and base business. I suspect its just been put on hold due to other schedule slips.

OP’s question was whether the new office/housing complex is completed and occupied yet. If so, did Base Business get to occupy or did FGP get to occupy?

The cost as an overrun like most MCPs was a given!

The newer housing is a huge improvement over old TCOV (Hungarian construction era) dorms in the 1990s. The duct tape around the HVAC unit to seal your room (from either sand or cold wind) was a nice personal touch in TCOV. As much as I'd prefer the $$ be spent finding additional reserves, I think improved housing isn't extravagant

I like how they designed Orken village to look like the San Ramon campus with four story office buildings enclosing courtyards. Proper homage to the real HQ!
