Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

December 10 can't come soon enough

Didn't really get to enjoy yesterday all that much. The uncertainty that's still hanging over our heads is enough to ruin any attempt at celebrating. I went through all the motions but my head was really not in it.

I can't understand why they had to set the date so far ahead. What exactly do they hope to accomplish by turning so many of us into nervous wrecks?

Dec 10 is the notification date, not the first end date for employment. And managers and directors can make suggestions based on when the employee actually wants to leave-Dec 28/Mar/June

Unless every one in your group clicked, you will be gone 12-28. 90% odds I bet.

Well the good news is: 2 more weeks! Then the wait will be over and we will either celebrate or have our expectations otherwise met. The smart ones among us are busy making plans while we wait.

I count the days to December 10, then count days to whatever date when they let me off the payroll. I am looking for new job now. I cannot imagine they will ever deny you. What loyalty are they expecting from me again? With those uncertainties and sleepless nights these days, we shall never look back and focus on new endeavors on your own career.

Has “horribilizing” become a perfectly cromulent word? Jebus!

While using such a c-aptacular word might embiggen the average Kwyjibo, I think it’s unpossible it passes muster at Wenster’s.

Nimwits ( a recent ginormous butchered morphing of nimrod, nitwit, and dimwit? )

There's a gap between the cutoff date (Nov. 17) and the notification date (Dec. 10) because the senior execs and HR need time to figure out exactly who they can let go without impacting the company to severely. I think it's as simple as that. I agree. I hate the wait, but it will be here very soon.

@cmf .... the last time I heard that kind of comment it came from someone that had a lifetime of participation awards.

Bottom line is that each and everyone one of us are responsible for our own well being and happiness, whether in career or personal life.

Worrying does not fix it, action does. If an employee of ANY company is not happy, unsure where the company or they will be in the near or far future then it is up to them to find a better path to happiness. Sitting at home and horribilizing over any RIF, EISP, ISP, VSP or whatever is not beneficial to the individual. Take action, even if it is a cut in pay or requires moving or giving up that yearly new Apple phone or whatever.

VZ HR should be RIF'd - I don't think they have the chops to manage the talent at your average food truck.

@WhvUHh9-thf - Are you one of the affected individuals? If not, please speak for yourself. Unless you walk in someone else's shoes, you have no idea what you are talking about. Everyone's situation is different. I say this not to be mean, just being realistic.

The length of time has been brutal on the individual person, but that isn't something the Company is focused on. However, the length of time has completely destroyed productivity and morale from both people staying and leaving; and that, the Company should care about. But, the stock price is up so I guess everything is great!

@OP -- why are you blaming the company; you are in control of your life and destiny. If you did not enjoy yesterday then it is on you and not the company.

Unhappy then leave on your own terms. Find another job; broaden your views and look for work in another state. Too damn many people are too chicken sh-- to move in order to improve their life and their family's life.

Don't complain ... take control of your career and your life.

I have to agree. From the time the VSP was introduced, to the time we are informed if:whenis excruciatingly long. It's this constant lingering unknown.
