Thread regarding Sears layoffs

How are the “toys” selling in your store?

At our store, all the toys are upstairs kinda out of site from customers, not even on sale yet..

It would have been nice to have all they toys by the Christmas tree section, I think people would have shopped it more than where it’s currentky located... upstairs

Plus, why are the toys not in sale? You would think they wd be running percentages off just like all the other departments to make sure we get rid of them by Christmas !! As it stands now they will probably go to zero before anyone fesses up and admits that yes they should have been closer to the Christmas shop..

Just doesn’t make any sense to bring toys in for first time in my 12 years with sears, just to have them all upstairs..out of sight

At all the sears that have toys this year, are they all upstairs too?

I'm waiting for Sears to add an "adult toys" department at my former store. It would fit with the sleazy customers and associates common to the place these days.

@1ejg we had a store manager who was "old-school". She had an open door policy and if there was a suggestion or issue, she wanted to hear it. She ran a tight ship but did not always believe that the Sears way was the right way. She also came out to the floor and pitched in wherever she was needed in the store if she had the time. She really cared about the employees. She took a well-deserved retirement and was replaced by somebody who does not even say "hello" as you walk by her office let alone hear any feedback because she does not want to hear it even if it is something that could jeopardize customer service. She is also as lazy as I'll get out. I've never seen her help with an ad set, help out at the CAC, straighten anything or even talk with customers (which, if a customer asks to speak with the store manager, she will go tell one of the other managers to go deal with them).

Why not talk to the SM or ASM and give them your opinion? What do you have to loose at this point?

They are not selling at all. While doing an adset or straightening the area, I've overheard more than a few kids telling their parents that Walmart, Target, etc. have more toys and that they'd rather look at those places instead. Of course it also doesn't help that there are a few missing ceiling tiles right over that area...younger kids don't really like seeing dark holes up through the ceiling. It scares them, especially when the heat kicks on (strange noises from the equipment up there). Between the holes in the ceiling and it being wedged in between the exercise equipment and tools, it just gives the impression to kids and adults alike that the toy department was an afterthought and was just kind of cobbled together. Same drab dreary gray, white and khaki shades of color as you'd find elsewhere in the store. You'd walk right past it if you weren't looking.

Because I’m not a manager and they would all have a fit if they were moved to the lawn and garden tool area.

Nobody wants them in their area so they stick them upstairs

Why don't you move them instead of posting on here? Lots of frauds on this site.

@inn elaborate more

Is it because nobody wanted the responsibility to keep up with the area?

Just a shame

I still believe they should have set up a “Toy Shop” right next to the “Christmas Tree Shop”

Just doesn’t make sense that the two are separated!

What's the reason? So they don't sell?

The human mind likes to feel like it triumphing over others and getting a deal. At least looking like there is a deal would help move the toys.

In our store they are upstairs and across from the Christmas trees. It looks good and they are moderately selling. Yes it would help if the pricing was better.

Upstairs & outta sight was done purposely - I'll allow you to think of the reasoning behind it - its simple
