Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Layoffs on the 28th?

Multiple reports here and at work about layoffs this Wednesday. Has anybody heard any details, or have a sense on the reliability of these rumors?

They can also withhold your severance (the little amount that it is) if you don't return your badge, laptop, cell phone etc.

Layoffs were delayed until next week for unspecified reasons. Well, unspecified to my sources.

I’m guessing nothing happened today?

That's not really how it works. They can terminate you remotely. I once had a coworker who received his notification late at night, right in the middle of a call with FX. Also, you wouldn't want to burn sick days because last round they also paid for unused vacation. The one advantage of being home is you can make returning your laptop and badge a real pain for them or drag it out.

Would be interesting if a whole slew of people took their laptops home and called in sick, just to throw a cog in the wheel. If log on to your laptop and you see your manager suddenly requests a 1:1 with you - you know your time is up but if you are out sick and cannot come in to face the music....what is management gonna do? Yea, pay you until you come back in.

Burn up a couple of sick days and trip over to the next pay period. They will have to re-write a lot of termination contracts and change the dates.
