Thread regarding Sears layoffs

People are obsessed with severance

Oh my god. People are obsessed with severance. People you need to go find another job. Don't count on a severance with Sears. Sears can, have, and will stop the severance anytime they want to. If you file a claim with the bankruptcy court you don't have a prayer because you will be placed at the bottom of the list of claimants as unsecured and the last to be paid after everyone else is. If you are counting on a severance you are shooting c-aps. I got out and now make more money with a solid employer with a future. Please do not rely on a severance from Sears.

@yqm. Wow. You must be a manager making big bucks with a job already lined up after severance. I got out and now make more in 2 weeks than I would have made with 4 weeks of severance in a lump Doealso have opportunities for raises and advancement. Unless you have extenuating circumstances staying for the severance makes no sense at all.

You wish people were entitled to severance. No labor laws requiring you get severance. Just keeping thinking that. Hi Patel!

Oh come on buck up little camper....... Show some holiday cheer. You know how sears is, if your numbers are not up up up with sales sales sales your a douchebag in their eyes. So I guess they just want to help people willing to help generate revenue.

People are entitled to severance so kindly STFU. If there's money for retention bonuses there's money for severence.

Absolutely.... In other words that's a nice way of saying s--- it up and drive on. Way too many of you winers on here. Almost reminiscent of the great Trump being elected as our leader and still people crying that Hillary was not chosen. Go out get a real job and prepare to actually do some productive work for a change, because hey, your futures depend on it.

I think you nailed it, at least for long term associates living in the past.

The days of leaving with a year's pay, more in unemployment , and a six figure lump sum nest egg are done .

Sad to be the one to tell you that .

I remember the days when Sears gave 2 weeks salary for each year worked (FT) as well as other benefits long gone. Then they reduced it to 1 week for every year worked. Then they limited the severance to 1 week but had a limit of 26 weeks. Then it went to 20 weeks. Now it's 10. And now it isn't even called a severance. For most associates who are not long term, they'll be lucky to get just a couple of weeks now. I agree. It is foolish to waste energy sticking around for such minimal benefits when they are just trying to keep people from baling out until the end. If you need a job, have a family to support, etc., what are you waiting for? Find something now!
