Can hourly employees get unemployment when laid off?

Oh yeah, like a previous poster said, the state makes the rules, but the employer can fight you. Companies pay unemployment tax percentage based on their use, so they like to fight it whenever they can.
Some states do pay unemployment for part time workers. All you can do is try. Usually there may be a provision for full time hourly to collect when their hours are reduced. Unlikely but hey, what have you got to lose? Good Luck

As said below, contact your state's unemployment office. Sears has nothing to do with making the rules.
In my state you have to have worked a certain number of hours over the past few quarters and then there is a formula for how much you get. Part time hours will get you there but obviously you're going to receive less than a 40 hour /week person.
Hourly or do you mean part time?
Of course an hourly associate would get UI if he was supporting himself on it . 5 hours a week? Not so much
In New York and a host of other states the answer is a definitive yes. Check with your local states unemployment website for specific state requirements.
There is no clear answer, I looked. Some say yes, some say no, some say depending on this or that... That's why I was asking specifically for Sears.
Google could have answered this question.
