Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

People, stop panicking

There'll be more layoffs, we all know it. But after the rounds we just had, I think even the upper management needs some time to see how things will function with so few remaining employees in some areas before deciding on what to do next.

I'm willing to bet anybody anything that we won't see any more layoffs this year.

Next year, however, is going to be brutal.

Well, now that the dealers are all corporate Xerox--"local resources"--maybe Mother X already has everything they need to function at whatever level they find acceptable.

And think about it: two dealers within ten miles of each other? They're all part of Mother X directly now! That's a lot of administrative and middle management redundancy to pay for! Get rid of it!

In that one fell swoop Mother X gained back all the people she needs, and then some, to continue functioning. Let the rightsizing continue.

The layoffs are driven by calendar date and tax implications. If Xerox can write off a restructuring charge for 2018 to save $$$, they will do it regardless of the impact to business lines, employees, morale, or whatnot. Board of Directors is beholden to the stockholders as well as their own fat pockets they are looking to pad.

Stock buybacks - over the years - have killed Xerox as well as General Motors and General Electric. Instead of plowing profits into R & D, they blew it all on a Ponzi stock buyback scheme to prop up the share price and meet targets to get their bonuses they have been salivating over.

"It's just business...." from the movie "Taken."
