Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Amazon dumping Oracle databases by the end of 2019

I know this has been announced earlier, but now that the AWS CEO announced a precise time frame, the whole matter looks more realistic. I can’t determine whether the Oracle leadership was too naive, thinking that this would never happen, or do they really have a blind belief in the products even though the reality is different. Either way, I think this could have been prevented, but now that it’s happened we will, without a doubt, have very damaging consequences, and not just in terms losing Amazon as a customer, but also by gaining a tough competitor on the market.

Please do it as early as possible. It is like North Korean President and American president talking over the press conference . No one does nothing.

Not a big fan of Jeff Bozo but I believed Aurora have succeeded. The Amazon Prime Day was their real stress test which crashed their db. They did an RCA on that incident and now they survived Black Friday. The success will be replicated and served as a good use case for others to do the same. Oracle years of arrogant attitude have produced tougher competitors and a lot from its own ex-employees. SAP, Salesforce, Google (TK) and etc, The good thing is, Oracle did produce a lot of good people. I should thank Oracle for that and now, my role is to use my extensive Oracle DB experience to help clients to migrate off to MSSQL and Postgresql. This is all thanks to years of Oracle and LE arrogant attitude on how they treated customers and employees.

This has been discussed over and over on this board. It's a non event and a marketing chess game (with some elements of ego wrestling between LE and Bezos).
