With head count reductions the rule of the day, why keep all these silos of Wireline techs separate? All these different teams with all the supporting management, and support staff can't be sustainable.

"Lan is dead" .... now that is a total BS statement. Not to mention the daily converting of customers from copper to fiber. 5G won't cut the mustard for business customers that need 100% reliability for communications. TLS / Fiber to the prem will be king for years to come.
Cell companies can only hope for IOT, stadiums, convention halls, short hops, etc. when it comes to 5G service. And even then it will cost these cell companies so damn much money to deploy micro-cell sites that it will be nearly cost prohibited for the customer.
Fiber rules and will rule for years to come.

Actualy in our area we have core techs who do buisness and goverment always did the have a title called System techs they also are the ones who have been doing all the wireline network that feeds our cell sites but they are not vzb techs they are vz core techs I dont know if there are that many of them but they are ones doing the work to call sites and dark fiber handoffs
Verizon Business techs are new Wireless techs, allready happening.

The OP is correct, we have Wireless techs, Business techs and Core techs.
Each has their own Management, support, and sales.
Why not really unify the whole thing.
Useless management is inefficient.
silos?..my area has about 10-14 techs...we have around 10 CO...around 100 POP...perhaps something in the 200-350 customers paying for private networks using our "wireline" fiber optic network..which is installed, provisioned, maintained and operated by us...I did not include the CPEs and last but not least...the 1 fiber OTN build up we are implementing right now....so yes we are in "silos"... dumb--s

Silos? We don't have silos in wireline. We have offices, often multiple offices; I have 5 large offices, my co-workers have from 5 to 8 medium size offices. We cover pad mounts and building.
Using words such as 'silo' and 'ecosystem' incorrectly in a statement or comment is a bit mindless. We do not 'telescope' up or down, nor are we in a 'silo' management type structure and the 'ecosystem' is actually non-existant as the business is not 'organic', another often misused word.
But more importantly ... why would you even care and why would it even be an important matter to discuss here or anywhere?
